I have two at the moment. On my first character I'm trying to see a little bit of everything. So, I've made an amoral Imperial Battlemage wearing heavy armor and dual wielding spells. I'm going to try and do every quest with this guy. The icing on the cake is he looks like Brian Wilson from the Giants. The only thing I won't be able to do with him is the Stormcloak side of the civil war. That's what my purely melee focused "guy from the promotional material" Nord will be for.

@owl_of_minerva: Peace is only declared until the end of the Main Quest line. Once that whole mess is sorted out the Imperials and Stormcloaks go back to murdering one another.

@JuggertrainUK: Quite true. This is a roleplaying game. You are free to play it however you like. I'm right there with you that doing the "bad" thing is something I can rarely do in a video game. I'm still trying to force myself to do my renegade playthrough of Mass Effect. However, in a game like Elder Scrolls where there is no morality system I say just go through and try to experience everything. Plus everyone kind of sucks in the Elder Scrolls world. Both sides of the civil war are jerks and you're constantly coming across some act of murder or extortion.

Well, he looks far more Middle Eastern now. I suppose that works better with the origin of his ancestors but it's always weird when they change up a characters appearance mid stream.

I don't have any way of taking a screenshot of my 360 but I'm playing an Imperial Battlemage who looks just like Brian Wilson. All the way down to the epic beard and mohawk. Still real early game so no fancy armor yet.

I ran across this after clearing out a fort of some mages. After consulting my strategy guide I learned that that particular fort will be inhabited by members of the opposing faction during the civil war quests. If I had to hazard a guess it would be that since the place will be used again later on it can't be cleared until that time. Either that or we all missed murdering someone.

11) Watch your fire. When you spray your flame spell all over a room trying to hit your target your allies don't appreciate being set on fire. They will return the favor.

This has been the source of my incredible video game OCD flare up. I've come to the point where I've made a melee focused Nord for the Stormcloak and a magic focused Imperial for the Imperials. When I go back to play as another race I have no idea which side I'm going to choose. Guess I'll flip a cord or something.

I also agree that they are doing a wonderful job making everyone seem equally terrible. The only redeeming quality about the Imperials so far has been Hadvar and his loyalty to the ideals of what the Empire used to stand for. On the Stormcloaks side...I've seen nothing but racists. Sure they have some viable points about the worship of their god being abolished but their behavior isn't winning any points with me.

I guess this is more a symptom of my video game OCD. Vinny and me suffer from the same sickness. This has probably been exacerbated by playing Mass Effect too much and trying to go pure Paragon or Renegade. After a few hours of play I think the Imperial Battlemage I've got going is who I'm going to stick with. Nothing is better than rolling around in full heavy armor, dual wielding spells, and all the while looking like one of the greatest baseball players to ever live.

However at some point I'm going to have to go back and do that melee focused Stormcloak character...and an Argonian rogue...and a Khajit...

So, in the last two days I've made about half a dozen characters. My first character, a Nord Warrior, got the furthest but I began to have serious remorse issues for siding with the Imperials against my countrymen. So, I've gone back and done the tutorial several times and come down to an Imperial Battlemage that looks like Giant's pitcher Brian Wilson. Right down to the jet black mohawk and epic beard. However, I still want to run up and bash things. So, I think I'm going to try and time share a Stormcloak Nord Warrior and Imperial Legion Imperial Battlemage.

Am I the only person who hasn't been able to get more than a couple hours into the game without having the urge to make another character? At this point I might just go through making one of each race to see what strikes my fancy before I can go on.
