Someone tell @Jeff these men he hired don't know what The Lost Levels are. I expect disciplinary hearings.

That was pretty big miss for people who work in the game industry.

@charlie_victor_bravo: So really, Dead Rising 3 is the game I should've been playing all along. Out of curiosity though, what is that I should've been doing in Dead Rising 2? I didn't find much beyond leading survivors back to the safe house, which got old pretty fast, and a boss that just felt like a much more durable version of the looters I had seen about. None of it was terribly exciting, especially with the cookie-cutter weaponry available.

Main draw is to balance your time between survivors, psychos, cases and if there is time, other attractions such as graffiti or zombies. Maybe it is not entertaining for everyone, but it was unique thing that these game had. The pace of juggling act increases as the game goes on and so does the number of things you have to juggle. DR2 took away the photography and that resulted in lesser amount of interesting things to do. Also inclusion of combo weapons lead to imbalance between them and normal weapons, taking away of "use anything to survive" aspect.

I see your point, there is no single thing in DR1 and 2 that are "fun things to do", it only as a package that the whole thing works. You got little time, lots of things to do and obstacles on the way. Getting trough is rewarding and stress caused by the time limits and other hindering things helps elevate the funnier bits.

I tried playing Dead Rising 2 on PC some months ago and found it boring because of how stingy the game was with the more fun and unique weapons. Killing zombies with very basic stuff like baseball bats isn't very fun.

DR 1 is not about killing zombies. It is survival game. DR2 is mechanically 90% based on the DR1, so it makes sense that killing zombies not fun. It is not what you are supposed to do in the game. Killing zombies is something to be avoided if you want to play DR game properly. Sometimes you have to do it, or you can do it for fun, but going in for DR to kill zombies is misunderstanding what the game really is about. DR3 &4 have moved away from that to be more open world no-challenge zombie killing playground experiences.

So it seems that State of the Decay is more Dead Rising than this. This has more in common with Saints Row than DR.
