@zombiepie: Yeah, the trial and error in some segments in particular really tested my patience, so I feel their pain. Hopefully they can manage to push through.
Great list. A little surprised to not see the Insomniacs After School anime on your list, but there's so much new anime every year, romcoms being especially crowded, that some stuff is going to get lost in the shuffle and maybe just not stand out enough. I also really do need to dip into both Overtake! and MF Ghost.
I think you should probably trust your gut and take some time away from everything video game related. You seem pretty disenchanted with the entire experience, even with games that you ostensibly feel you should like.
Also, for the record, JK Rowling is a TERF. It's not just rhetoric. It's fine if you enjoyed the wizard game in spite of that, but I would urge you to at least recognize the massive privilege of a statement like "I don't have time to whinge about trans politics."
It really is such a great game aside from some of the parts where it tries really hard to be a video game. Like you said, so many games try to do this 90s anime aesthetic, but I've never seen anything else pull it off this well, especially not while also bringing a lot of their own unique aesthetics and charm along with it.
On the surface, this feels a bit ridiculous, but this could prove to be a great idea if it's done well. This new adaptation could serve as both a more accessible on-ramp for new fans and something to keep existing fans engaged.
There's plenty of room to improve upon the original adaptation, especially with respect to pacing, so I'm hopeful that this could be the thing that finally allows me to get into One Piece.
This isn't something that I've ever had a desire to seek out. I guess I'd rather just stew with the dissatisfaction and contemplate it on my own.
I could see in some extreme cases the possibility of a fan coming up with a more satisfying ending, but I think that's going to be exceedingly rare and not worth seeking out. That said, I'm totally fine with people using fan-fiction as a means for them to work out their own feelings about a story or just for the sake of entertainment, but I would never personally view them as a substitute for the original.
@efesell: I agree. I'm not watching any sort of response to the response (especially not when it has such hyperbolic language right on the thumbnail). This has now moved completely into "YouTube Drama" territory that I don't want any part of.
Some of the control improvements made to Jet Force Gemini in the Rare Replay version really helped make this game feel playable in a modern context.
I'm assuming the NSO release is going to be more of a raw ROM dump, and if that's the case, playing it will likely be a reminder of just how rose-tinted the JFG nostalgia goggles are.
