Been enjoying the previews so far, and I'm surprised how close the concept art is matching the final product. Even more hyped to get my hands on it this summer, hopefully no delays. Kinda wanna go back and play the SNES game.
I constantly reloaded X-COM, and got all my soldiers home. It's how I played the old game, and it's my general philosophy in most games: if someone can get out alive, I will get them out alive. Maybe I'll never get the coveted "Hardcore Gamer Badge" to wear on my... nonexistent gamer uniform or whatever, but it helps me enjoy games, and that's kinda the reason I play them.
Feel bad for the Danger Close guys, they can't be feeling particularly happy right about now.
me too and as much as everyone really dislike this game i think it and the original where pretty good for what they where, its a real shame that its only failing is market saturation
The first game was serviceable, but they spent too much time chasing the CoD dream. Never really got a chance to do anything original or interesting. The marketing of the second game was questionable at times also. But I'm hoping they might get one last chance, and a longer dev cycle to try something new. My understanding is it's a pretty big studio, and the last thing I want to hear about now is another flood of unemployed video game designers.
All of it's pretty dumb, and again, is excluding a part the growing gaming market. Beyond any social / political issues, I'm surprised that companies haven't realized there is money to be made by marketing to both genders, and not just degrading one to please the other.
I'm glad for articles like this because it's a debate that needs to be had. If we want to grow as an industry and be taken seriously as a medium, these are the type of discussions we have to have.
Like the Movie industry ? Oh wait no. Like Books? Music? Oh wait again no...
What media industry are you talking about?
Games. Things are shitty in movies and other industries? Yep. Do we have to just accept it in games, I don't think so, and it's still early for games. Not saying things won't still end up in the same place, but it's worth the time to debate it and see if we can't shake things up a bit.

Man, what a mess. I hope Relic does well under Sega, and I hope someone takes Vigil. Darksiders 2 might not have set the world on fire, but I would love them to make another.
