It's Gravity for me because it created some genuine moments of horror. The kind I didn't know I could get from a movie anymore. I think I learned something about myself after that movie.

But the other ones are good too. The Martian is a bit too comedic to be important enough, for me, and Interstellar becomes a bit too... well, I wont spoil.

I'll probably pick up Civ VI when it comes out. Other than that, there's no upcoming game that have caught my interest. Probably because I have some serious RPG cravings right now and there's nothing super huge coming out on that front. Maybe I'll just play through the Witcher 3 again.

Didn't he start at the company as an intern sending out T-shirts and stuff? If he's from a wealthy family, they sure know how to raise their kids.

Edit: I think he's just min/max -ing his budget like everything else in his life. Either way, it doesn't matter. He's a cool duder.

Of course it would be nice with more diversity of interests. If only for a the completely egoistic reason that I want to be introduced to things and ideas that I haven't considered before. That said, GB has a pretty wide spectrum of interests already. For a small site at least.

What is more important, in my opinion, is how they talk about their interests. That could use a bit more variety on this site. Different contexts and perspectives, deeper analysis, historical significance, personal portraits etc. In that sense I miss Austin sorely. He knew how to make me go "Huh, I haven't thought about it in that way".

But, there's other sites for that. I don't necessarily want GB to change.

I picked up Ziggurat dirt cheap on a steam sale once and it stayed untouched for a long time. A couple of months ago I got an itch for roguelikes and finally dug it up, remembering that Jeff really liked it. And, man, that's a super fun game. I still haven't unlocked everything, but I'm not planning to leave it until I do. A perfect game to have around and make a run or two every once in a while.

Jeff Bakalar, Samantha Kalman, Austin Walker, Danny O'Dwyer, Mary Kish, Jeff Green would be a good start.

Then maybe Tom Cruise and Charlize Theron for that extra star power. Dr. Tracksuit would work equally fine.

Bone Tomahawk

3/5

I knew nothing about this movie going in but a western/horror with Kurt Russell and Patrick Wilson sounded tempting enough. Also, the reviews weren't half-bad. The plot is pretty simple. Some shadowy creature-like people causes murder and abduction in a small dusty town. Sheriff Kurt Russell and crippled husband of one of the abductees, Patrick Wilson, gathers up a small party and sets out on a perilous rescue mission. By this point I love this movie. Great mood, good acting, and an interesting mystery to keep my curiosity up.

Then there's this long and slow middle part of the movie that is more about surviving the hostile environment. I have nothing against slow story-telling with a long build up. But this movie is 132 minutes long and most of it isn't about the thing that makes it fun and interesting. It's structured a bit like The Revenant. Only the beginning and end is closer to The Hills Have Eyes. To me, it was a bit disjointed. And it feels like some scenes repeats in a very similar fashion without moving the story along.

I still liked the movie enough to recommend it. Most characters are believable and well acted. And I just love a good western setting.

(A small warning, though. Some scenes in this movie are extremely gory.)

I'm in the same spot. I liked Borderlands 1 and loved 2. But the Pre-Sequel just looks bad somehow. Whenever I'm tempted to pick it up I play a few hours of Borderlands 2 instead. Need fulfilled.
