I'm a backer of this game and I never played the previous Haramonix games of this type. So far I'm not sure how I feel about it. I kind of wish there were four note paths instead of three. I think my biggest concern is the music. I'm down for Freezepop and Crypt of the NecroDancer, but there are some tracks in there I'm not really into.
I really enjoyed this year's deliberations. All of them are great, but there were a ton of interesting, funny, and insightful discussions this year.
I understand why Super Mario Maker won, but I didn't put it that high on my personal list. It very much feels like one of those games where it gives out what you put back into it.
It's their list, everyone is entitled to their opinions, etc. etc. etc., but I have to say Grow Home's inclusion made me keep raising my eyebrow throughout the final discussions. I haven't finished the game, but I have played through maybe half of it. It's cool. It's neat. It's good. I just don't get why Brad thought it was so UNBELIEVABLE that people were talking about removing it from the list. It just seemed like a weird hill to die on. (I know other people put it in their personal top 10 lists, but he was the biggest supporter of the game)
Maybe it's because the game came out so early in 2015, but it always felt like people said, "Hey, this game came out of nowhere and there's nothing really going on right now, so we're going to mess around with this thing", instead of Grow Home being anything more than just an alright game.
