I have never gone from potentially interested going into a video to "there is nothing about this that appeals to me" so fast. It is a real bummer because I passed on Forza 7 for obvious reasons this year and I didn't like the first PCars that much so I am weary about its sequel.
I think Forza Motorsport 7 is actually really good. This game is awful. Maybe if Polyphony dropped the price to $15 it'd be worth it.
I don't usually mind progression in racing games, personally. I liked how in (for example) old Gran Turismo games I would just start out with just enough money to buy some used AE86, win a few races and soup it up a bit, then keep winning to earn money to afford better and better cars, qualifying for tougher races against faster opponents and gradually getting enough to buy a supercar, or a rally car, or whatever else I wanted to branch out into. Maybe if you play every single new installment or are really attached to one particular car, that'd get a bit old, though?
These loot boxes, mods, and consumable cards sure do throw a gross wrench into the whole thing, though.
The loot boxes and mods are completely optional. You don't have to touch any of that stuff. Yeah I agree with you on the old Gran Turismo games. I think the career modes in those were pretty good. I like the career in Forza 7 but I feel like it was much better in 3 and 4. Also gotta mention Forza 7 is the best looking game I've ever seen. The guys working in the visuals department of Turn 10 definitely know what they're doing. Game is gorgeous and then some.
People are saying this is the best episode of still my sunshine. This is the best piece of video content on giant bomb period!
I can't fucking believe they finally clicked on the "totals" section of the map. I've been waiting for that since day 1. Probably the most useful thing in the game.
I busted a nut over what happened to Dan near the end. OMFG WTF.
Alex should get an oscar for that facial expression when that went down.
