Late Goodbye (Call It What You Will)

List/blog/call it what you will.

Something just sprung to mind in my infinite tipsyness as I drift off to - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GDflVhOpS4E - literally the best the thing I've ever heard.
I was thinking about games I started but never finished, either because I gave up or because they were too hard (most of these will be from my childhood). So here is a list that really should be an actual list but instead its a blog (that's fucked up).

Games I never finished nor saw the end of:

Sonic 3
Final Fantasy VII
Final Fantasy IX
Counter Strike: Source
Peggle Nights
Doom
Heart of Darkness
Abe's Exodus
Munch's Oddysee
Any and every Tony Hawk game
Sonic 3D or whatever the fuck the Americans called it. (It's a MegaDrive)
Fotonica
Beneath a Steel Sky
Broken Sword 1
Broken Sword 2
ilomilo
Dice XY (now I'm reaching, you don't even know what that is do you?)
Silent Hill
Resident Evil
Resident Evil Code Veronica
Resident Evil 4
Shenmue (to my shame)
Jet Set Radio

The list, as you expect, goes, exponentially, unremittingly, unflinchingly, like Max Payne, driving, into the night, it's a late goodbye, such a late goodbye.

Here's my list:

Those overripe green beans from the garden
That caulifower soup
Those scallops that mom made since Aunt Marie only eats seafood
That box of crackers, since I ran out of hummus
About a dozen heads of lettuce, because who eats that much lettuce, anyway, to finish one?
Those things of yogurt that were separated because they were past their expiration date and the one time I ate it I got an upset stomach.
That pizza, because the box was too wide for my fridge and it just didn't taste right even after just one day

I'm probably forgetting quite a few.  I could have had some good meals, but I didn't.  I turned and walked away, deaf to my own unearned sense of entitlement, that bourgeois notion that I only have to eat what I want and if I don't like it I can get something else.  I'm sorry, Somalia.  I didn't mean anything by it.

Never finished Super Ghouls n' Goblins, Demon's Crest, Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay, Final Fantasy 6, Uncharted, or the Fear Effect games.  Lucky me I can go back and play them when I want though.

T'was, t'was. I do love that the GB community can always provide the funniest, most sarcastic and cutting comments/replies on the Internet. It does make me smile.

Well, I was going to make a legitimate comment, but I didn't understand your post. So, long story short, ya got a bunch of games that need finishing? I apologize if I'm over-simplifying things.

@Bruce: I blame the alcohol, its a bunch of games that I will never finish for one reason or another. It all started because I was going to buy Sonic 3 on XBLA, then I realised I already have the Megadrive collection/Sonic's whatever it's called in the US. Then I realised that I've only ever seen the endings for Sonic 1 and 2 through cheating because at the time I first played then I was a child.

To top that off I've been drinking and I got really sad because I love Sonic.

I'm not over-exaggerating when I say that I don't finish about 90% of the games that I play.

I hope I wasn't the only one who was thinking about Poets of the Fall while reading some of this thread.

I still haven't finished Fallout: New Vegas 100% yet, I feel ashamed

FIrst, I thought this was going to be a Poets of the Fall thread.
Then I saw your avatar, and was totally sure this was a Poets of the Fall thread.
And then you fucking tease it at the end.
You misleading bastard.

For those who are unclear:

You haven't seen the ending of CS: Source? Is that a joke?
BTW, Beneath a Steel Sky is free (or 5 bucks) on GoG, and you can use a guide. It's a fairly decent ending.
In RE4, crazy shit happens. The End.

I, as a rule, aim to complete games so as not to leave a job half-done. In my collection, there are the games that I've completed, and the games I haven't started. However, there are a few exceptions.

I haven't seen the end of P3:FES 'The Answer', and probably never will. At the end, your party turns on you, so the guys you spent 30 hrs training are now your enemies. I've been playing on and off with that in mind, but it's pointlessly hard.

I feel guilty for never finishing Shadow Complex even once, considering I was having a blast with it at the time and the Bomb Squad mentioned repeatedly that they'd played through it four or five times. I just got distracted once Arkham Asylum came out.

@CH3BURASHKA
The Counter Strike one is a joke, yes.

I fired up the Answer right after I beat the main game and I instantly disliked it so I'm going to watch my girlfriend do it instead since she's just finishing up her P3 run.

And I do apologise about the misleading POTF nature of this post. However I think you posting the video makes up for everything.

This thread is great - I can relate so much!

I almost never complete a game - I just managed to complete Starcraft 2 the other day - after it had been collecting dust pretty much since a few days after release...

It's nothing personal towards the creators of these games - I just loose interest in them. Sometimes it's a lacklustre story, weak game mechanics, broken content that forces me to load an x hour old save game - and sometimes it's just me.. Some games gets forgotten when something new and shiny arrives - to these lost games - I am deeply and truly sorry. You were good - you gave me enjoyment for hours. But at some point you were just not able to compete - I do hope you can forgive me for that.
