The Site, Updated

I am really impressed at how quickly the site came together and works. I haven’t experienced hardly any bugs and the ones i have run into have been very minor and were fixed relatively quickly. The site works nice and fast now and the moderation speeds have really amped up and made it a lot more attractive to go for points and add things. I could just praise the site all day, but what good would that do to the user base and employees. We already know and have figured out everything that is great about the site, i.e the cutting edge design, profiles, etc. I am writing this to show some aspects of the site that I feel need some work and can be fixed.

First off, I feel that all the staff are great at what they do, but there just isn’t enough of them. Now i understand that giant bomb is a new and small company because of financial restriction, but has time goes on there just needs to be more staff. I believe that in two or three years this could very possibly be competing with IGN, 1UP, etc. for video game site supremacy. This though will not be accomplished solely be Jeff, Ryan, Brad and Vinny’s talent. If they want to become on the biggest site out there they need to hire a more has soon has they are able to and expand to more diverse crowds. The four editors now (more of three, Vinny hasn’t had any experience) aren’t going to give us any good sports game coverage, which will turn many people away. Now I know the argument to this is, we, the users will then have to provide the coverage. If that’s the case then why wouldn’t they go to the bigger and name they think they can trust more, Wikipedia. Now i completely understand that they just don’t have the money and space to accommodate more employees, but in the future they will need to expand more if they want to become to number one source for video game news (assuming they want that).

Secondly, my other complaint is for the lack of video uploading. User created video are a large part of any media driven website and this would greatly excel the user experience and attract more people if they could Google some like Gears of War headshot montage and the first couple links be from giant bomb videos (obviously after the YouTube ones). This would serve has free advertisement and also largely integrate the user experience and overall site experience.
