I was underwhelmed by the last two Firewind albums. They weren't bad by any means, but there wasn't anything truly amazing on either of them. Compare that to Allegiance, where almost EVERYTHING was!
Before all of the PC elitists start shouting "obviously the textures are low res because it's on a 360, idiot!", I am well aware that the console versions of the game don't look as the PC version. Unfortunately, I currently don't posses a high-end gaming PC, so I am forced to play the 360 version. That being said, I've noticed that aside from massive texture pop in when loading a new area (which I'm assuming is a result of the game running on UE3), some of the textures don't seem to load in at all! This is especially apparent when looking at objects from a distance.
At first, I figured it was just a result of game running on old hardware, but then I saw my roommate playing the game on his Xbox and it looked significantly better. My eyes could just be playing tricks on me, but for some reason I feel that my copy of the game looks much worse than what I've seen from other people's game. I'm running it on a 360 Slim if that makes any difference. Just wondering if anyone else was having the same issue or if I'm just crazy and the game simply looks like ass on 360. Both cases seem fairly likely.
I also don't have a problem with people not wanting or simply not having the time to read the books in the series. I think HBO did a great job with what they had and made it into a compelling show on its own. I don't think a person should call the books crap, though, just because they don't want to read them.
One of the problems I do have is that I feel that the show moves too fast at times. I read the first book before watching Season 1 and thought that reading the book beforehand really benefited. While watching it I kept thinking "I can only imagine how confused someone would be right now if they didn't read the book". I understand that there's only so much you can fit in a 60 minute show, but I almost wish they would slow down at times. I think the majority of cuts the show made in the first season were fine and that they showed as much as they could. I haven't watched all of Season 2 yet (I'm almost done with Clash of Kings) so I'll have to wait and see how bad they are there.
