Going between PUBG on Xbox and Breath of the Wild on Switch. I'm late to the party, but I'm having a blast with both. I'm not sure I'd recommend playing them at the same time necessarily. I don't know how many times I've hit the wrong button instinctively because their control schemes are so different. Normally that's not a huge problem for me so I'm chalking it up to Nintendo's insistence on using A (right face button) for a lot of menu interactions and contextual actions (also fuck the motion controls when playing in handheld mode, for real) and PUBG's somewhat wonky gamepad mapping. Anyway the 2018 hot scoop from me is that despite my control complaints, those games are good and people should play them!

Just a quick update, I'm waiting for my plane back home from San Antonio. I had a great time at PAX South and am eager to go back or to other PAX events. I watched some great tournament play (including some Smash which I've never really had an affinity for before but get it a little now), played some unreleased games, went to some interesting panels and met exclusively cool people passionate about games. As someone who isn't super active on social media and lives in a small, Midwestern town this might have actually been the single most positive experience with the wider gaming community. I'm sure there are people in attendance who might have given me a different impression, but luckily I didn't meet them. There are definitely some things I'll do differently next time, but the good news is that I want there to be a next time.

Thanks, @marino. That's useful information. As a midwesterner, South is the closest to me so I think that's why my wife bought tickets for it. When I told her I didn't see a Giant Bomb panel on the schedule, she was bummed thinking she'd bought a less-special gift. I assured her that was not the case. I'm still super excited to go. If the crowd ends up being smaller as you say, that actually appeals to me. I'll just treat it as an intro to PAX and look into attending one of the larger ones if this trip is successful.

I just found out my wife got me a 3-day pass, airfare and hotel for PAX South as a Xmas gift. This will be my first PAX, but I'm not so much looking for beginner's tips, those have been discussed elsewhere. I don't see much discussion on here about people attending or the GB crew showing up, but I know in the past they've attended. Anyone know any more details? Any GB related events I should know about? Is PAX South becoming a hard sell for the staff to attend?

Vinny and Jason for their dad-takes and openness to trying things that others won't, even if they can't finish anything. I can definitely relate to that.

Saw some folks throwing Austin and Patrick into the mix. I definitely like Austin's take on things and since he left to run Waypoint, I've really gained an affinity for Rob Zacny as well.

I have a Roku 3 and a Roku TV. Both are working fine with the updated app and the resume feature works.

I'm going to just throw this out there and be greedy since everything is working for me right now. At some point, I'd love the resume feature to work across devices. In some cases I start a video in my den and finish it in the bedroom (if you know what I mean... sorry).

I know most users probably don't have multiple Roku devices so treat this as a polite request. Thanks for all you do, duders. The Giant Bomb channel gets the most use on my Roku devices by far!

I think they're both super fun games that some people love to hate (and similar but maybe not too similar to enjoy both). I know a lot of people malign the inclusion of the Batmobile in Knight but I found it mostly fun. Similarly, I think people are too hyperbolic when they deride the environments and story of Mordor, if you accept that the land of Mordor is a craphole and LOTR is the ur-text of modern fantasy rather than derivative of it, you'll love Shadow.

You can't go wrong. But if you just played Arkham City, maybe play Mordor.
