Beat Dark Cloud 2 back on the PS2 with all the highest-powered weapons and max-level characters. Probably not on the same level as some of the other feats mentioned here, but considering I didn't enjoy most of that, it's definitely on my list.
I'm also pretty close to getting the achievement for 1000 deaths in Spelunky on Xbox 360 and I own that game on multiple platforms. No idea how many runs I've made in that game. I was going to say I enjoyed every second, but let's be serious, before I beat Yama the first time, there were some rage quits.
Didn't have time to read everyone's posts, I'm at work. Sorry if this has been said.
The Waypoint gang were discussing the growing trend toward individual voices in criticism vs. institutional reviews. In general, they were fine with whatever experience the critic had with a game as long as it's disclosed to the reader. I agree completely. If you say upfront, "I didn't finish Nier but here's what I think of it..." I don't think there's anything wrong with that. You can take that opinion with whatever grain of salt you wish. I also don't think there's anything wrong with having another opinion or seeking out the opinion of someone who did finish it if that's important to you. There's no dearth of video game voices out there.
Congratulations! Speaking from experience, you'll be way more worried about your partner enjoying their day to worry about anything else. You'll love being married!
@humanity: I came here to mention The Division. As someone from a flyover state I really liked the feeling of a city that that game created even if I had no idea if it was accurate. Good to hear from those of you who know.
I loved this game when I was a kid and sought it out one summer anytime I went to a new arcade. I was young enough and the transformation gimick was entertaining enough to keep me coming back. I also never had enough money at one time to beat it, which kinda killed my interest in other beat-em-ups. It's obscurity kinda added to the mystique (there were a few years there where I had forgotten the name and it drove me crazy trying to find information about it online) but unfortunately it doesn't get mentioned much in discussions about Neo Geo games. I'm glad to see it mentioned even if it's just to honor the true Japanese insanity that it had on display.
@catoasapun: What about someone who thinks they shouldn't spend money on Witcher 3 because they have 2 and it's just sitting there in my backlog? Are they that different? I know 3 is almost universally thought of as a better game, but if 2 doesn't grab me, is 3 going to be any different?
