Although it is sitting somewhere in San Diego, this 3DS will be in my hands in early June when my relaitive returns from her 3 month holiday:

I didn't even know they had purple. I asked for a red one, 'cause it goes faster, but now I see the purple one, I am one very happy gamer. Combine that with my black PAL 3DS, now I can have the choice to import games at a cheap price and probably ones not released locally. Damn Nintendo and their stupid Region Lock - worst thing they ever did.

Purple is definitely one of the finer colours they have released do far.

I got mine at launch, the launch colours sucked. I ended up going with the aqua colour, but looking at them now I would have gotten the Purple or the Red one (My Wii is Red)

I was happy with Black at launch. Black is always a good choice. Being an early adopter really comes with disadvantages though. Kind of explains why I have 7 DS of varying types and colours.

I really, really hate the 3DS having the glossy black around the top screen, glossy products need to die, they only look good in pictures.

Aside from that I do like the 3DS design quite a lot, but because of the gloss I think the Lite is better.

Hate is a stronger word than I would use. I do dislike the black around the screen though. A single colour all around would suit me better.

Not sure Black was a choice for a UK launch colour, if I remember right we had Aqua and brown? Shit it's been a while!

How is it I didn't make a juvenile joke about your Wii being red? That can't be good. See a doctor man.

I don't remember launch colours in Australia either, but I got mine within 6 weeks of launch. Brown sounds horrible.

Mine has seen little use in the last year. More an investment on what is coming rather than what we have. I have spent serious time on Mario Kart 7.

I bought it and their was Zero launch games I enjoyed, then when Ocarina of Time came out I bought it and realised I don't really like Ocarina of Time. However then Super Mario 3D Land came out and I loved it, I reviewed it and gave it 5 stars, one of the best Mario games in a very long time. I also did enjoy Mario Kart but I'm not a great fan of the portable Mario Kart games, I like to play them on the big screen.

No other game has interested me, The Snake Eater one was going to be a given but then it came out and sucked. Ultimately i got it for Pokemon but then they turn round and say.

"HEY GUYS WE ARE MAKING A NEW POKEMON GAME FOR THE ORIGINAL DS!"

So fuck the 3DS at this point, not to mention that stupid price drop, and all I got was some NES games that I already had.

I would go with red now, but I still don't mind my blue launch model, which for some reason is now being discontinued.

@Contrarian: The purple 3DS just came out 2-3 weeks ago so you're really lucky :)

I'm waiting until the eventual redesign appears until I get my US-import 3DS for all the stuff we're missing out on.

I hope they put out the orange one (the last one left from the 2010 unveiling)!

That is pretty slick. I was annoyed that they didn't bring out the Zelda 3DS with Zelda. I bought them together, and if they had that one I would have absolutely got it. Instead I ended up with a lame black one. I'll get a revision in 2 years or so. No, I don't think there will be a revision this year.

The purple one looks so great, I have this horrible feeling if they ever release that colour in the UK that i'm going to end up with a second 3DS. I really hope they start putting in bigger SD cards by that point though. I filled my 3DS yesterday.

I looooove the purple one. It's a mini Gamecube! Of course it had to come out just weeks after I bought my 3DS (although I'm not unhappy for what I paid for it).

My relative was going in for the red one and picked up the last purple one on a whim, assuming I ould like. She was dead right. I do like purple. A burnt orange one would be pretty sweet.

I also am very content with the 10 GBA games I got for being an early adopter. The started at $350 Au and I got mine for $280 and then it dropped to $250. Fire Emblem alone was worth it, but all 10 GBA were top notch ones, so no complaints from me. The NES games don't do anything for me - they are soooooo hard to see. I really need a 3DSXL for that.

How big was your card? I am nowhere near full on the 2Gb card. SD cards are so cheap, getting an 8Gb card would bother me. Can you transfer easily from one card to another, say on your PC or did Nintendo make that too difficult as well?

Because I got it before it dropped, and I had played all of those GBA games.

As far as I'm aware, transferring content between SD cards to the same 3DS is as easy as copying the 3DS software folder over.

@Contrarian: Yeah, I'm going to have to get a bigger card if I want to continue buying games off the store. They really should sell them with bigger cards at this point seeing as they want to sell full retail games on it. I was able to fill up my 2GB with 7 3DS games, the 20 ambassador games, a couple of apps and a handful of 3D images. For some reason the free update for Mighty Switch Force was almost the size of the game.

Get Pushmo. It's cheap, addictive, and downloadable.

I'll still get another one when the eventual redesign occurs. That sort of thing doesn't bother me. Upgrades are inevitable.
