Please, why is this being made about the duders challenging an opinion of a woman? People here constantly challenge the opinions of the rest of the staff.....

It just comes off as being the worst of the internet on display when everyone has to come shout down a woman who challenges their opinion.

Seriously. I'm willing to bet since Dan joined the team half of this forum is just "Dan is an idiot" responses and before that it was "Patrick sucks!" Making this about dumping on a woman just shows the real argument people want to have.

@rorie Do you have any interest in doing your own podcast on this site again? I miss the days of Box Office Bomb. You're an entertaining dude who I could listen to ramble on about whatever for at least 1-2 hours a week in audio form.

@ybbaaabby: Thank you for speaking about this. Regardless of how some may react, I do hope you'll be willing to speak about these types of topics again and interact with the community more when folks inevitably contend your stances. Your perspective is obviously a unique one among the staff and these are the types of topics that I've been wanting more discussion about from the Giant Bomb staff for many years now.

May I refer you to kotaku, polygon, waypoint, gamasutra and almost any other game website/blog.

Ryan Davis "There's a permeating hypersexuality here that could be derided as being deeply misogynistic just as easily as it could be hailed as a beacon of post-feminist self-actualization, except that the absurdity in Bayonetta is so bone-deep that it doesn't really matter one way or another. What matters is that Bayonetta is an action game bursting at the seams with enthusiasm, a game that celebrates Japanese game conventions--with ample nods to both Sega's and Capcom's back-catalogs in particular--and then pushes them to their breaking point. Even if you don't like what it's doing, you kind of have to respect the way it does it. "

Man, I wish I could get Ryans take on the state of the world in general today. A ton of things have changed in the small amount of time since he left us.

There was panel on Bayonetta by Gita Jackson, Maddy Myers, Katherine Cross, and Todd Harper at GaymerX a while back that is, in my opinion, a far more interesting, intelligent, and nuanced critique of the game/character than what is in this comment section. The panelists all love Bayonetta but acknowledge that any positive message the game delivers is pretty accidental. Also, despite loving the game, they point out that it's very problematic to the point that hating it because of its sexualization is very valid.

Oh yeah, a kotaku/gamasutra echo chamber is really gonna change opinions.

@vinny Live streaming a podcast is a waste of resources and time. It just becomes something to play in the background. Since the west started streaming their podcast, I think I loaded it up twice just to see what was going on.

Can anyone explain what this Podcast is actually about?. As far as I can tell, Danika works for Waypoint, so why is she an intern?

So these podcast is basically an improv comedy with the premise that Ben and Abby have been given a nebulous (but very important) Department of New Business to make Giant Bomb their own. To satiate their need to have power (and no longer be the bottom of the on-screen food chain), they're looking to obtain some Interns to boss around. Because it's such a wonderful venture that everyone would want to be a part of, they're aiming high by poaching talent from across the gaming sphere.

First up is Danika Harrod, interviewing for this podcast despite working at Waypoint as you said. Every episode is probably going to be a new person interviewing for a role at the Department of New Business while being in-on-the-joke that there is, in fact, no department that needs an intern. Don't worry, no one is being taken from their actual job.

If you heard the (now removed) last 2 minutes, you would have heard Abby and Danika talking about how Abby and Ben still plan to evolve the series and want to bring more structure to it. It's not a hugely interesting thing to hear so don't other looking it up though. Just realise it's them out of the scene making it clear that they're thinking about how to improve the podcast in future episodes.

Well, when you have to explain the joke...

I love this series but holy shit is Dan frustrating. Have Dan just do a solo stream along side everyone else. Every time I heard him go, "I hear a plane, I yelled at the screen!"

@vinny Can this happen?
