I loved the absolute fuck out of the Horus Hersey book 1 being "Horus Rising" it predates some pretty massive events in the 40K universe but is written really well by a range of authors covering a whole ton of factions that make up the Space Marines. You don't have to read all 30. I resorted to cherry picking armies / characters I found interesting.

Seems that is it is much easier to just pull down the free cast. You would be hard pressed to call the banter between Jeff and Vinny prior to the theme song "ads"
