This has pretty much been what I've been hoping for since they announced it. They already have a half-way there version with the free game stuff. They'd just be eliminating the need to download them.

Feel bad? I haven't been this entertained by a console war in decades.

You would think an engineer Microsoft would be able to talk about this a bit more elegantly. This guy sounds like a marketing bro, not an engineer.

That stood out to me too. The guy's whole way of writing is just off.

Also,

>Honestly, if you care about anything other then pure games AT ALL. Xbox 1 > PS4. If all you do is play games, and nothing else, PS4.

Thanks for letting me know.

And every company involved in PRISM said "What? We've never heard of that!" only to have the government go "Yeah, that exists and they're involved."

Hey I already posted here (OP is a greedy idiot) but just wanted to come in and ask that people stop saying you get free games when you pay for PS+. I don't feel like I need to explain why saying that makes no sense (unless english isn't your first language).

Don't you also lose access to all "free" games acquired via PS+ if you break subscription even for a month?

Yes and no. You lose access to the games for the time you've broken subscription. Resubscribe and you'll be able to download them again (like when you claim the games but don't download them).

I can't wait for EA to try to re-implement online passes after just publicly removing them. :D

This is the only thing I'm curious about. I think EA was betting that Sony had a similar system--and I bet they did until a bit ago. Curious to see what EA's next move is.

I think the story is mostly a nonstory though. I doubt Sony could dictate that publishers not have DRM. It just can't be integrated into Sony's systems.

Lets say you were going to put together a living room PC with a $500.00 budget. Would it be comparable to the hardware capabilities that Microsoft is offering?

Probably somewhat comparable at launch, with the $500 PC being slightly worse performance wise.

But look at something like Halo 3 vs. Halo 4. As the console gets more and more development time and more optimized engines, it will blow the shit out of any current PC in the $500-800 dollar range. Obviously the PC has the ability to be upgraded, but that's the way it always works.

There was this article where PC Gamer puts together a rig equal to the speculative PS4. It costs $600 bucks.

Honestly, though, since these new systems are basically PC's in and of themselves, I have a feeling that the "optimized engines" are going to favor PC's just about as well as Xbox One/PS4's. Obviously, this won't be the case with your Halos or Uncharteds, but those are first-party games, and if they're what you're after, you should definitely just get the requisite console.
