Really enjoyed this one. I love how the Idle Thumbs crew can be totally silly but also dive deep as hell on the mechanics/game design stuff that they really like and sort of try to pinpoint exactly why.
Finally beat the cake level after turning the sound off. Lost on the last line the first time, beat it the second time. That level just feels messed up.
Movies in the same tier are of debatable ranking within their group, but this is my current opinion.
The hardest part about feeling 5 is the best is that I think it requires having seen 1-4, which I would have a very hard time recommending to someone objectively.
As Alex pointed out, this series takes its lore surprisingly seriously, which ends up making it tougher than you would expect for newcomers.
P.S. - was really disappointed with the Rousey content. It made Gina Carrano look like an Oscar winner.
I will say pretty firmly that anyone seeing this without knowing Paul Walker had died will have absolutely 0% clue that he died after seeing this movie - which is a serious achievement for all involved.
I'm someone who saw the original in the theater opening weekend and then swore this off forever, but have really found a love for this series of films thanks to this podcast series. Thank you GB. It's "sad to imprison a beast", or whatever Vinny wants to say to CBS corporate.
I'm glad we have 3rd party audio confirmation of Dan crying at a movie - I consider people who claim to have never cried at any media potential psycho/sociopath - whichever one is relevant.
