Count me amongs those whose eyes were rolling as Dan talked about the Metal Gear games being "grounded."
I think he was just too young to realize at the time how profoundly stupid the stories are in the MGS games, and now his adult mind won't see them for what they are. I think Vinny nailed it in that they're largely just a collection of random stuff. Any of the individual weird elements is plenty interesting on their own, but any justification in tying it all together is total BS when examined.
I didn't really interpret Jeff as taking ANY kind of stance on anything during that video. He was trying to help Dan wrap his head around the basics of insanely complicated issues. Obviously saying stuff like "yeah it's hippie stuff" or "people dont trust science" is incredibly reductive, but they said as much.
I don't really come to GB for their views on GMOs or the Monsanto Corp. I think anyone reacting strongly is looking for something that really isn't there.
I've been enjoying this stretch of the game. I think there might be a story that could be told around the fringes of a tedious day job. I find the small story bits with the crew of workers interesting. It's a shame there isn't more there.
