I don't understand why people like you don't understand. A lack of information will always be filled by wild nonsense and speculation. Stamping your feet and demanding human nature to change instantly won't do anything, its meaningless posturing on your part. Either people tell their stories or weird random internet people will make them up.

All the hand-wringing in this thread is both disgusting and ridicolous. The developers are complicit, that may be against their own conscience or it may not be, it doesn't matter they are actively supporting the CCP in censoring topics concerning the oppressed. I don't give a damn if thats what they've got to do to make a living, this is how evil functions in the real world, ordinary people are made to take part and it doesn't stop while you sit around making excuses for them, or worse hand them your money and get involved too.

Just build a gaming PC. You havent raised any decent counter-points. Frankly I get fed up of people who can't cope with the mildest criticism and insist that everyone be as excited as they are. They are critics its literally their job to criticise not advertise. The new generation of consoles is boring, and the launch titles are boring. That might change sometime next year as developers start making use of the newer hardware properly but the launch is the imminent thing people are talking about, and theres very little value in buying these new consoles in 2020.

@ry_ry Lego are experimenting more generally I think with not including instructions anymore but they still make pdfs available, the mario sets are no exception. https://www.lego.com/en-us/service/buildinginstructions/71360

I will yell at them the day they try to make them app only, but I've been using the pdfs on my tablet for years now.

Also I do understand why this discussion can be frustrating to people who live in places with worse situations, but I don't think it should prevent the rest of the world, where things are better, from enjoying themselves and talking about such things.

There are less than 10 nations that have handled the pandemic so well their second wave isn't coming until 2021. Most nations are expecting a second wave this winter. If you go to an indoors venue with a large number of people for more than 15 mins, your behaviour is directly contributing to worsening that second wave and you should be criticised personally for it. Unless you live in one of the top 10 countries (eg New Zealand), then outdoor socially distanced gatherings are the absolute limit of what you should be doing. Drive-in theatres have been operating and an acceptable alternative to cinemas, as well as outdoor screenings this entire time, theres really no excuse, indoor venues are considerably worse for transmission.

The video player not loading while this script is blocked is itself probably a GDPR violation. The default for the system must assume no consent, and the client blocking your cookies or ad scripts or even privacy scripts is affirmatively refusing consent. Under GDPR you cannot block access to services when consent is refused, or else it becomes coercive and all the consent you've gathered is now invalid. The CBSI GDPR implementation has been slightly off for a long time I'm not going to whitelist this script, hopefully the site can be fixed to actually be compliant with what its trying to do. (In fact as a paying customer for a service the EU services regulation requires this be fixed or discounts to the subscription should be offered if this prevents the site from working for more than a few weeks).

Yeah this is way more appealing to me too. They did make the chunky mario do sound effects for the scrolling level to try to convince you to buy him. A scrolling level with sound and a mario that kinda jumps is a lot more than I expected, there are some crazy lego builds these days once you start involving mechanical parts.

@curiosus: Agreed that it isn't a binary choice. Strongly disagree with your comments about working conditions and my health, as I almost certainly wouldn't have ever gotten a chance to work my way up due to how ungodly difficult it is to dislodge garbage union workers at their job. You see this every day play out on a public stage with police unions, which I believe just about everyone is in favor of disbanding.

Agreed that feelings don't trump medical science.

Its the job of unions to protect their workers, maybe try joining one instead of competing with them? Its certainly the main draw back of the union system that they protect their worst members, but ultimately thats better than allowing management free reign. A stronger social system that offers retraining for people who need to be moved would help, I don't like seeing unions protecting coal jobs either but unless government steps in to help them transition to new jobs the union has little choice but to defend their members.

@curiosus: Yeah? One is supporting judicial extradition to china where dissidents are disappeared for years, and if they are lucky, reappear years later with an apology and a peculiar gait. The other is something I deal with every day working in IT for 15 years, and has never once occurred to me to support.

But sure, you should probably keep assuming you know how to organize entire societies of people, dismissing any who feel differently than you as not knowing what's best for them.

Its not a binary choice between what causes we fight. If you tolerate working conditions harmful to your health thats on you and your choice of employer, don't try to justify it as 'fine' or 'normal' though.

Feelings don't trump medical science, would you run a pandemic response on feelings instead of science? That doesn't seem to be working out so well.
