Love the aesthetic, intrigued by the story, but the PS5 exclusivity (do you really need exclusives when people can't even buy your friggin' console?) and $70 price tag will keep me from playing this.
While I appreciate what they were trying to do with the switching viewpoints, I found it seriously disorienting and actually felt a bit ill at times. In the future, I'd prefer it if they captured each individual viewpoint and uploaded them as separate videos (though, admittedly, that would be odd for a QL). I'd much rather be able to just pick a single viewpoint and stick with it. Just a personal preference, though.
Ryan passing was the only death of a person i didnt know that made me cry
Same. Hell, there have been people I did know who died and those deaths didn't hit me even half as hard as Ryan's. It came completely out of nowhere and...it just snatched the soul right out of me. I still haven't been able to go back and listen to the Bombcast where they had some of the old Gamespot crew join them and shared some of their memories of Ryan.
There are just so many wonderful Ryan moments. The one that immediately springs to mind is the Quake TNT with Ted's Cosby impersonation. Ryan's laugh...fuck, just that pure impish glee to his laugh killed me. Whenever Ryan laughed, it was impossible to not laugh along with him. (Which is why it rings true when Vinny said that he had a way of calling you on your bullshit and cutting you down while still making you laugh.) The man seemed to have an inexhaustible wellspring of joy about him, and I really miss that more than ever these days.
For a split second, I thought that class said 'Dunk Mage' - and, let's be honest, after the robot and the white steampunk-ish John Henry, I don't think a Dunk Mage would be totally out of place - and immediately pictured a dude throwing basketballs as his basic attack with a big dunk as one of his special abilities and was ready to say, "Fuck this game."
Right off the bat they already fucked up this remaster. I mean, sure, it's a tough call on whether to just polish the graphics or to add extra stuff, whether to simply upscale to 4K or to release a 'director's cut' with new footage, but...how the fuck do you not not get Keith David to read that opening text crawl? That should've been some Mako at the beginning of Conan the Barbarian "let me tell you of the days of high adventure" shit.
