I believe they said they were going to wait until after recording the next one and then combine both parts into one video, because the last stream started late due to technical issues and was quite short and not really a full episode.
I don't have much to add that hasn't been said already but I just wanted to add my voice to the support of Jan and Jess. I'm stoked about Dan coming back and the others going full-time, but I don't want that to overshadow the incredible work that those two have been doing. Jan was always great but really came into his own holding everything together over the course of the pandemic. Jess getting hired was the most excited I'd been about Giant Bomb in a long time; I'd enjoyed her Silent Hill Let's Plays years ago but knew nothing about her beyond that, but from her first appearance it was clear that she was a great fit. I've never seen a community basically demand that somebody be hired like that. She's hilarious, seems to genuinely love what she's doing, and has brought such a great energy to the cast at a time when it was badly needed.
I'm excited about the new crew, but even before that, I wasn't worried about the future of the site as long as those two were involved.
I obviously would have preferred for Jeff to stay on board, but if that wasn't in the cards for whatever reason, I think this is about the best possible outcome. I'm excited to see what Jeff does on his own and I can't wait to see what this crew does.
I unsubscribed when they announced Albummer and Very Online Show, but I came back when they hired VoidBurger and I dunno, I feel fairly satisfied. It's definitely a different feel but like others have pointed out, the site has changed many times over the years. I think it's just more noticeable this time because a lot of things changed all at once. But they've always had some stuff that interested me and some that didn't, and that's fine. I do wish we were getting more quick looks, mostly because I don't really follow any other video game sites, so I'm just not learning about as many games now.
I will say that I thought I would be more interested in Nextlander than Giant Bomb after they left, but the opposite has turned out to be true. It's true that Giant Bomb "getting weird" hasn't really been weird in the ways I expected, but I appreciate that they're trying new things even if they don't always hit for me.
P.S. it's kind of annoying when a new game comes out and Giant Bomb and Nextlander each have their own separate streams of it so you're seeing the same part of the game played through twice.
Persona Q. It felt like they only covered it at all because lol Persona 4, and the quick look was just the very beginning of the game and I doubt they ever played any more of it. But that game is great.
