@wmaustin55: I think the problem is that the "purist" PC gaming community is one of the most reactionary communities out there. This will simply be used as ammo by companies to not listen to the internet and/or petitions for PC ports in the future; there will be plenty of people not bothering to buy it anymore over one vague statement taken out of context, and when you add in the piracy issues, this is going to make the attractiveness of a PC port even lower for companies. Namco is expecting decentish sales, and hence put out a port with some extra content slapped in. If those sales fail to be realized over this, they're going to blame the community and PC gaming as a whole, and it wouldn't be a stretch of the imagination to have other publishers follow suit.

The Dark Souls petition always seemed like a bad idea for everyone involved, and now I'm finally seeing why. I'm not blaming the PC gaming community solely (Namco/FromSoftware are putting in zero effort, basically), but the vocal minority that were screaming "Port it! PORT IT!" will now be screaming "Fuck you! FUCK YOU!" and, well, it's not going to end well for anyone involved.

@iglock: getting (NG+ ability spoilers) flight and deal-with-it glasses is super tempting.

@Mnemoidian: I'm trying to S-Rank The Saboteur at the same time, so it's a nice divide between the two :)

@Mnemoidian: Nope. Will return later; I should really do some work anyway. I've got about 33 cubes (regular/antis) and have only unlocked, not entered, the other cube doors in the waterfall hub (4, 8, and 16). This game is getting surprisingly lengthy, but mainly because of my OCD of CHECK EVERYTHING

WHAT IS GOING ON HERE there is literally nothing to do in this room that I can find; no glyphs, no cubes, nothing. Help!

Not sure. It might only be for one particular secret thing, it might be for everything. Still, best not to risk it until we know for sure I think.

I think that's a bit bullshit because I'm playing with my Xbox offline anyway (only one Cat5 port in the room, and fuck paying $100+ for a wireless antenna). That's the kind of bug they would have caught, right?

Although, if the game is refusing to run on older consoles and has been in development 5 years, that's not a great sign.

Finished the riddle room off of the waterfall hub. Also got to the snowy-type room with platforms disappearing to the tune of the music...I love this game. It's got a good level of difficulty of the puzzles so far.

I'm stuck on a puzzle from a purple doorway; it exits you to a tree, that's surrounded by water, but only the tree's there...no doors, or anything else. It was in the Quick Look but damned if I can figure out where to go next. Also, going along that same path from the Hub, there's a room with a totem that sucks away your perspective-shift power. Any ideas how to crack that one?

@buzz_clik: Shivering Isles is surprisingly long. There's also a pretty obvious fork where you'll have to choose for one single achievement over another and will get locked out unless you start the story again, so keep a spare save ready. It's damn obvious when you have the choice.

I'm a Gamerscore tragic so I've already gone down this road; the only one I missed lately is Skyrim because of the stupid Daedric items and one where you can fudge it so you get the requisite amounts. I'm going back to the Saboteur to give that a go though; such a fun game.

@Nottle: Bootcamp is super easy to set up; on my OSX based Macbook I just threw in my Windows 7 CD and away it went. Plenty of guides are available online, I'd wager, or on the documentation that came with the laptop itself. Or maybe hit up an Apple store?

As far as story, you won't be lost if you jump straight into BG2.

GOG is pretty fantastic with making older games run well on modern PC's (unlike Steam). Planescape and Baldurs Gate 2 should sort you out just fine. BG2 does everything that BG1 does, but better to the point of making BG1 unnecessary.

Borderlands was fun and all, but after the lacklustre PC port and Pritchard's baseless aggrandizing, fuck that.
