Games Played in 2018

For the last couple of years I've been documenting every time I play a game and what I thought about it during that session.

A session can be anywhere from a few minutes to many hours. Sessions that last longer than one block of time (illustrated below) are counted for each block individually. Sessions that cross over a block (like from 2:30 to 4) count towards the one that more time was spent in.

This will be unedited and likely full of typos and misspellings. The descriptions of my sessions may include story spoilers. Any spoilers will NOT be marked.

Here's the break down of the time of day:

TimeTermTimeTerm
12am to 3am Midnight Noon to 3pm Afternoon
3am to 6am Early Morning 3pm to 6pm Early Evening
6am to 9am Morning 6pm to 9pm Evening
9am to Noon Late Morning 9pm to 12am Late Evening

List items

  • Started: 1/1. Early Morning. PC Steam. Enjoyed.

    Decided to start over from my last game. This time with longer time between missions or whatever that setting is. Let's see how it works. I got a sniper and I made her into Matoko from Persona 5. Probably going to make her into a gunslinger type.

    Played: 1/1. Afternoon.

    Turns out I was both sick and didn't have work today. After a really crappy morning, I just let myself get adsorbed into this game. Nothing too exciting happened. I'm gonna go lay down.

    Played: 1/2. Midnight.

    Am much further along than I was in my last game, but it feels like I played for less. I got stuck on a mission where the RNG just continued to screw me. I swear there is a penalty if you reload a save at all during the mission. It just leads to more reloading.

    ~~~
    Played: 1/3. Midnight.
    Lost my first soldier. Didn't have a good place to reload. I am liking a lot of the weirder shit in this game, but maybe I should be playing on easy. I still have so much too learn about it. Like I though power could only be built on certain tiles, but whoops.
    ~~~

    Played: 1/4. Early Morning.

    Played: 1/4. Morning.

    Got a lot of cool things. 6 squad. Relationship levels up. Robot friend. Completed a mission without taking damage. Now I'm doing this mission with SO MANY Lost and the Hunter showed up. There's like 50 guys on the screen and more show up. It's real rough. I had to stop before I could finish the mission. Right now. I'm going to pull all my guys back. Except I have a guy dazed and no way to help him. Fuck. Mox might just be dead/captured (again).

    Played: 1/4. Late Evening.

    That mission went well, and so did most of my other missions. I did encounter a rad king snake man who could freeze my guys and would get a turn every time my guys did something. Awesome. I've also got some really cool equipment like mods that deal 3 damage on a miss. And I just realized how amazing the gunslinger sharpshooters are. Oh man, Makoto is amazing now. This game seems like it's everything the first game wanted to be.

    I wish the Chosen were a bit more flesh out or a bit less set in their ways. Like I wish they were independent of the other factions.

    The Dark Events or whatever are super cool! And a good way to build tension.

    Played: 1/6. Late Morning.

    Well I didn't mean to play for 8 hours straight, but I did. I defeat the Assassin. What a hell of a mission. I killed the King Viper too. Now I'm encountering Sectopods and fuck.

    ~~~
    Played: 1/7. Early Morning.
    ~~~

    Played: 1/7. Morning.

    Ok, so Sectopods aren't that bad if you have a specialist who can hack them. I also had a mission where I encountered this game's version of the cyberdiscs, or well, so big orb boys. They seem pretty scary!! All by best folks are either tired or wounded. This mission is pretty rough.

    ~~

    Played: 1/13. Evening.

    ~~~
    Played: 1/13. Late Evening.
    Finally got back to this. Had way too much trouble on some missions. I'm definitely nearing the end of the tech tree I feel. Though I'm still getting a lot of cool stuff.
  • Played: 1/3. Afternoon. Mobile. Enjoyed.
    This awful dumb game is becoming what I do when I need some time to kill. It's a bad simple game and I should find a better word game honestly.
    ~~~

    Played: 1/4. Afternoon.

    ~~~
    Played: 1/5. Afternoon. Mixed
    ~~~

  • Played: 1/6. Early Evening. PC Steam. Enjoyed.

    Like I said in last year's list, my girlfriend is a big fan of the original Myst, so we wanted to give this a try. Unfortunately she gets very motionsick and we can only play for like 20 minutes. Still she's wants to continue.

    ~~~
  • Played: 1/10. Morning. Enjoyed.
    I was looking for a new word game, since I decided I don't really like Word Connect at all. This seems interesting so far. I don't know how long I'll stick with it.
  • Nusakana
    ~~~~~~~

    Started: 1/14. Late Evening. Enjoyed.

    My GF and I started this tonight after I had bought it months and months ago. It seems ambitious and a bit rough, but so far we're liking what we've played.

    ~~~
    Started: 1/16. Evening.
    This game is very slow paced.
    ~~~

    ~~~~~~
    Rubi: The Wayward Mira
    ~~~~~~

    Played: 3/24. Late Evening. PC Itch. Neutral.

    This is an very early build of the game and it seemed to bug when I tried to grab the first power up. So I couldn't progress after that.

    I didn't like the jump sound either.

    ~~~
    ~~~~~~

    Serpentes

    ~~~~~~
    Played: 3/24. Late Evening. PC Itch. Enjoyed.
    This is a really clever and fun take on Snake.
    ~~~

    ~~~~~~
    Radical Dungeon Sweeper
    ~~~~~~

    Played: 3/24. Late Evening. PC Itch. Mixed.

    This game was like mine sweeper mixed with a dungeon crawler, but I don't think it quite executed on the idea well enough. The goal seems to be just find the door to the next level. You don't really get anything for playing the mine sweeper aspect well. Like monsters don't take damage if you don't uncover them while having everything else cleared. I don't know. I think it could have been done better. Ah well.

    ~~~
    ~~~~~~

    Resonance of the soul

    ~~~~~~
    Played: 5/27. Midnight. PC Itch. Neutral.
    This is an RPG Maker made game from a small team of young adults that probably don't natively speak english. I only played til the first save point, but despite it's terrible grammar and awkward controls, there might be something to this game. It's unfinished. Only the prologue is done, but I didn't hate it.
    ~~~

    Played: 5/27. Late Evening.

    I don't know how much more of this I'll play. I only played like another 15 minutes or so. Got a fox friend and a mage friend. It's kinda just more RPG Maker junk. Which is fine, but I'm well out of that part of my life that I would play more of this. Also, they really need to get someone to punch up the script.

    ~~~
    ~~~~~~

    Rocks And Ravens

    ~~~~~~
    Played: 7/29. Late Evening. PC Browser.
    This was a cute little puzzle that that if it had more levels I could see being a really popular mobile game. As it stands right now, it was a bit too easy.
    ~~~

    ~~~~~~
    Resynth
    ~~~~~~

    Played: 11/23. Late Evening. PC Steam. Mixed.

    This is basically a block pushing game with some musical elements. It has some cool ideas and aesthetics but early on it is very much "you gotta do everything exactly right" and I'm just not into that right now.

    ~~~
  • Played: 1/19. Evening. PC Other. Enjoyed.
    Hadn't played this game for months. Decided to update it and hop in. Played about 4 or 5 games. Moira seems rad, still mostly just played a D.va and Junkrat.
    ~~~

    Played: 11/12. Midnight.

    Well it's been about 11 months since I played this last. They change a lot, huh? Did pretty well for being really rusty. Nothing but a few quick play games. Don't really get the Bridgette character much. Hamster seems ok. They changed a lot of the heroes I do play. D.Va now has rockets. They seem OK.

    ~~~
    Played: 11/17. Late Evening.
    Saw some newer maps. They seem pretty nifty. I really wish I could play some of the TF2 payload maps.
    Played: 1/20. Early Evening.
    watched a little bit of Austin's stream and the proceeded to play it for a very long time. haha. This game seems really good so far. I feel I probably need to play more defensively.
    ~~~

    Played: 1/20. Early Evening.

    Had two games as the Silent and didn't get too much further. I think this game does need a bit of some smart AI to do things based off your deck. Just to make it a bit more interesting.

    ~~~
    Played: 1/20. Evening.
    ~~~

    Played: 1/20. Late Evening.

    ~~~
    Played: 1/21. Midnight.
    Had a bunch of runs with the Silent. Got all the way to the boss of Act 3, but lost. Learning a lot of what I should be doing. Defensive play is a must. You do not want to be taking damage when you don't have too. I couldn't quite get my total BS build going though. Still trying.
    ~~~

    Played: 1/21. Afternoon.

    ~~~
    Played: 1/21. Early Evening.
    I unlocked the ultimate shiv cards. This game continues to be rad. I do feel that some of the encounters need to be tuned a bit better. Some just deal so much damage and some many of them rely on vulnerable.
    ~~~

    Played: 1/21. Evening.

    Had a poison build that got all the way up to the Act 3 boss, but fuck that boss. It was a big snail that would cancel my turns and got rid of all my poison, bah!

    ~~~
    Played: 1/21. Late Evening.
    Tested my stream music play list. Unlocked some new stuff, but didn't get very far. Had a run where I was until 10 HP for like 3 fights. That deck was basically built around drawing and discarding. It was ok. Also I did real bad in one fight and that messed everything up. Whoops.
    ~~~

    Played: 1/22. Evening.

    Streamed a few runs. Unfortunately they were not very good and I didn't get very far.

    ~~~
    Played: 1/22. Late Evening.
    Had a real interesting run that was a mix of poison and shiv. Envenom + monster skull + the specimen + shivs = a whole lot of poison. Unfortunately I was brought down since I got into too many fights from ? areas.
    ~~~

    Played: 1/23. Midnight.

    Couldn't resist doing two more runs. Didn't get anything spectacular, but I'm certainly understanding the synergies better.

    ~~~
    Played: 1/23. Evening.
    Tried the Ironclad for a few runs. I lost my last one despite having an incredible build because I didn't draw attacks when I needed them. Though I did get a bit too greedy.
    ~~~

    Played: 1/23. Late Evening.

    Played more Ironclad, their exhaust focus cards are interesting and real powerful. Still got fucked up though.

    ~~~
    Played: 1/24. Late Evening.
    Did a stream again. I find I talk through the game and possible actions more when streaming which is probably a good thing for this game. Still died on the Act 2 boss though.
    ~~~

    Played: 1/26. Late Evening.

    Streamed for nearly 3 hours. Had an amazing run with Ironclad, but got the snail boss and man... that guy deals way too much damage!!

    ~~~
    Played: 1/27. Midnight.
    I beat it!! Finally. I had an amazing deck that basically just gave me a new card every turn and I had a ton of effects on exhaust. I got the twins as the Act 3 boss and was able to control them pretty good. This game is good. Needs a lot of polish as it feels like right now getting lucky is as needed as winning as skill is.
    ~~~

    Played: 1/27. Early Evening.

    ~~~
    Played: 1/28. Midnight.
    ~~~

    Played: 1/28. Early Evening.

    Had a few just incredibly bad runs.

    ~~~
    Played: 2/3. Late Evening.
    Watched a stream where they showed how good Corruption is. I built a deck around it and was able to beat the Time Snail. I was gaining 10 block for every card exhausted and drawing cards. It was amazing.
    ~~~

    Played: 2/4. Midnight.

    Decided to play some more. Had all pretty bad runs, but was able to do some interesting things. Sometimes you just don't get the cards you need.

    ~~~
    Played: 2/4. Afternoon.
    ~~~

    Played: 2/4. Early Evening.

    Did another stream of this and had 3 real bad boring runs. It was disappointing. ah well.

    ~~~
    Played: 2/4. Late Evening.
    Had some considerable better runs, but still got locked down by certain encounters.
    ~~~

    Played: 2/17. Midnight.

    Had one run with the Ironclad. They added an exhaust pile which is really cool. My run didn't go well though.

    ~~~
    Played: 2/17. Midnight.
    ~~~

    Played: 2/17. Early Morning.

    Got all the unlocks. Had a few interesting runs, but didn't get the cards I needed to win. Had a real amazing set up with generating block, but I didn't get any of the cool cards related to it.

    ~~~
    Played: 2/18. Evening.
    ~~~

    Played: 2/18. Late Evening.

    Had two runs as the Silent. My second was absurd, but I was greedy for one turn and that caused me to lose. Ah well.

    ~~~
    Played: 2/19. Midnight.
    ~~~

    Played: 2/19. Early Morning.

    I had a good run as The Silent, but lost because of the damn Time Snail. It just kept attacking.

    ~~~
    Played: 2/19. Morning.
    Beat it as The Silent! Had a really fun deck that involved pulling lots of cards and dealing damage while pulling them.
    ~~~

    Played: 2/19. Early Evening.

    Just had a game after I came home from work. Didn't get too far.

    ~~~
    Played: 2/20. Early Morning.
    Decided to try out the beta and it has it's own progression. Looks like they rearranged unlocks, which is fine. I only encountered one new enemy and it was pretty brutal. Some sort of fire guy that would summon little fire friends. Seems like a pretty tough encounter.
    ~~~

    Played: 2/21. Evening.

    Encountered the Serpent enemy. At the moment I think they're constrict ability deals a little too much damage. Ruined my good run. Ah well.

    ~~~
    Played: 2/22. Midnight.
    ~~~

    Played: 5/06. Late Evening.

    I had thought that added a new character, but not yet apparently. So I just did a silent run and lost to the 2nd boss with a pretty middling deck.

    ~~~
    Played: 5/09. Late Evening.
    At world 3 of a pretty absurd run. It'll probably come crashing down around me soon enough, but it's going really well so far.
    ~~~

    Played: 5/10. Midnight.

    Yeah. That run ended in the next encounter. Ah well.

    ~~~
    Played: 5/10. Early Evening.
    Tried to build a deck around the Silent's Skewer card, but couldn't quite get what I needed.
    ~~~

    Played: 5/10. Evening.

    Was having an amazing run with the Silent where I was building a ton of dexterity and throwing out a ton of cards, but died to the crow boss because I got a turn where I didn't get any blocking cards. Drats.

    ~~~
    Played: 5/11. Evening.
    Went back to the beta branch. Need to unlock stuff, but had some decent runs as the Silent. Unfortunately they ended with not getting the right cards at the right time.
    ~~~

    Played: 5/11. Late Evening.

    Had a really silly run as the Ironclad where I basically tried to get rid of and avoid blocks. Misread one card and could have played better, but it seems like that could be possible if you get the right cards.

    ~~~
    Played: 5/12. Afternoon.
    Tried the Defect, they seem cool. Then Had a decent run with a Silent poison build.
    ~~~

    Played: 5/12. Early Evening.

    ~~~
    Played: 5/12. Evening.
    I beat the boss with both the Ironclad and Silent. I don't really remember my ironclad run, but with the Silent I got the intangible event that cuts your health in half but gives you cards to reduce damage to 1. It was pretty absurd.
    ~~~

    Played: 5/12. Late Evening.

    I tried the daily. It was interesting. Had the Detect have random 50 card deck and there were a ton of elites. I found it help to kinda learn their cards, but it wasn't very strategic.

    ~~~
    Played: 5/12. Late Evening.
    Had one of those runs where you just can't get anything good going.
    ~~~

    Played: 5/13. Midnight.

    ~~~
    Played: 5/13. Afternoon.
    ~~~

    Played: 5/13. Early Evening.

    ~~~
    Played: 5/13. Late Evening.
    ~~~

    Played: 5/13. Late Evening.

    ~~~
    Played: 5/14. Midnight.
    Had a few runs as the Ironclad. My last run was incredible but I got a really freakin' tough regular encounter with one of those evil pears and red slavers. They kept attacking with moves in the 20's for damage. Nothing much I could do.
    ~~~

    Played: 5/14. Early Evening.

    ~~~
    Played: 5/14. Evening.
    Had a really good poison run as the Silent. It ended in my hubris as so many runs do. I should not have tried to take on that elite in act 3. My set up was basically a single apply poison card, envenom, two catalyst cards, and burst. It was really good and fun.
    ~~~

    Played: 5/14. Late Evening.

    Unlocked everything with the Silent in the beta branch and then trying out more of the Defect. Got to the 2nd Act boss twice and whiff it.

    ~~~
    Played: 5/15. Early Evening.
    Lightning is fun. Got so close to the Act 3 as the Defect.
    ~~~

    Played: 5/16. Midnight.

    ~~~
    Played: 5/16. Early Evening.
    Had an amazing run with the Silent where I was looping card with the weaken status. Ended against the champ because I didn't realized he wasn't weakened. whoops.
    ~~~

    Played: 5/17. Evening.

    ~~~
    Played: 5/19. Midnight.
    Had an absolutely amazing run with the Ironclad where I just beat out the bird boss. The whole run I was trying to find events to remove all the strikes and defends from my deck. Never happened, but I did get Madness on Bludgeon with Double Tap and a whole lot of spot weakness. Though the deck was more built around looping drop kick and relying on the Gremlin Horn to keep my turn going.
    ~~~

    Played: 5/19. Midnight.

    Attempted multiple times to run a discard deck with the Silent. Got something going the last run, but died to an enemy with 1 HP.

    ~~~
    Played: 5/19. Early Evening.
    ~~~

    Played: 5/19. Evening.

    ~~~
    Played: 5/19. Late Evening.
    Almost won with the Defect.
    ~~~

    Played: 5/20. Midnight.

    Started recording my runs with commentary.

    ~~~
    Played: 5/20. Afternoon.
    Tried a frost deck with the Defect. Didn't do so well.
    ~~~

    Played: 5/20. Evening.

    ~~~
    Played: 5/20. Late Evening.
    I actually got kinda bored with a run.
    ~~~

    Played: 5/21. Midnight.

    Got to the boss as the Silent with a shiv/thousand cut deck, but lost to Donu due to a bad draw.

    ~~~
    Played: 5/21. Early Evening.
    ~~~

    Played: 5/23. Midnight.

    Had a really awesome run with the Silent where I got the shuriken early and built a shiv and weakness deck around it. I got pretty much all the prefect relics for it, though I was never able to make use of my Nightmare + Hell Hook combo to get a weakness loop. I think after 100 hours I'm finally getting to the point where I'm pretty good at this game.

    ~~~
    Played: 5/22. Midnight.
    Had two fairly mediocre attempts at getting weakness loops with the Silent.
    ~~~

    Played: 5/23. Evening.

    ~~~
    Played: 5/28. Midnight.
    Unlocked everything for the Defect now! wooo!
    ~~~

    Played: 5/28. Early Morning.

    Y'gotta hate it when you lose because of a bad draw. I had a really nifty thing going with a super risky Iconclad rupture/apparition deck.

    ~~~
    Played: 5/30. Midnight.
    I should really record all my runs. Yeesh! I had a fun run as the Iconclad. Low-ish card strength deck with lots of powers. Took forever to get Heavy Blade, but it did cinch the victory against the time snail.
    ~~~

    Played: 6/1. Early Morning.

    Tried ascension mode. Didn't really like it.

    ~~~
    Played: 6/3. Early Morning.
    ~~~

    Played: 9/24. Midnight.

    Decided to jump back in and play a few runs while listening to podcasts. A lot of the new stuff seems interesting, but I didn't get to use much of it. I only played as the Ironclad and every time have the Time Keeper as the final boss. Only got to it once with a deck that exhausted a lot and was built around Angry. Sufficed to say, I did not win.

    ~~~
    Played: 9/24. Early Morning.
    Had two extremely bad runs as The Silent. Ah well.
    ~~~

    Played: 9/27. Late Evening.

    Had a decent run to the final boss as the Ironclad, but lost. Nothing fancy about my deck, but it probably didn't have enough defense to be honest.

    ~~~
    Played: 9/28. Early Morning.
    Couldn't sleep, decided to try a few runs as the Ironclad. No luck.
    ~~~

    Played: 9/30. Late Morning.

    Had an amazing run with the Ironclad. The deck started off being built around havoc and the dead branch. By the end I was basically throwing out my entire deck every turn. I had the time snail as the boss, but was playing 12 cards every turn so it was no problem. Super fun!!

    ~~~
    Played: 9/30. Early Evening.
    Had another fantastic run as the Ironclad. Started with Feed and eventually got the event that lowers your max health by 50% but gives you cards that reduce enemy damage to 1. And a lot of strength up cards. It was real good!!
    ~~~

    Played: 10/1. Midnight.

    ~~~
    Played: 10/1. Early Morning.
    Had 1 bad run then 2 extremely good runs as the Silent. The good runs were very different. I can't remember the first (think it was built around discard), but the second was all about shivs and stacking powers.
    ~~~

    Played: 10/2. Evening.

    Started a run, but didn't finish it because I had to go do something.

    ~~~
    Played: 10/4. Late Evening.
    That run didn't end up going so well.
    ~~~

    Played: 10/5. Midnight.

    ~~~
    Played: 10/6. Early Morning.
    Had a good run as the Ironclad that was built off causing vulnerable and eventually gaining strength. Then had a pretty standard run as the Deflect that ended at the act 3 crow boss because the deck was so focused on getting powers.
    ~~~

    Played: 10/6. Morning.

    ~~~
    Played: 10/7. Evening.
    ~~~

    Played: 10/7. Late Evening.

    Had a good Ironclad run that was built around just generating a ton of energy in various ways. Was saved by a fairy in the bottle though.

    ~~~
    Played: 10/8. Midnight.
    ~~~

    Played: 10/8. Midnight.

    Did another Ironclad run built around exhausting and fiend fire. Got The pyramid relic as my starting and then instantly picked up Charon's Ashes, then shortly after got Fiend Fire, and welp, it'd be pretty hard lose with that combo.

    Oh... hrmm... there's some things about this game that I'm not too sure of now. It had me do some really fiddly bs involving grenades that I solved, but it wasn't really clear why it would work sometimes and not other times. I played up til I beat White. And getting into the lab required, what seemed like a pixel perfect button release to get a grenade to fire at the exact right time. It seems like grenades fire on the release of the button instead of when it's pressed and that makes it feel real shitty.

    The first phase of the White boss battle was also super fiddly. There was one group of bombable blocks that would not move for me at all no matter how close I got the grenade. Then all the sudden on a misfire, a grenade exploded just barely within range and the blocks moved. I don't get it.

    I really hope this is just a lackluster area and this game isn't this year's Owlboy or Samus Returns.

    ~~~
    Played: 2/5. Midnight. Enjoyed.
    I got up to where we enter the tower. I really like the story in this game, but the level design has some rough edges. I absolutely loved the way that the boss I just faced ended. It was a really silly joke, but Man... it just hit me in the right way.
    I'm not so sure about the side quests. I did some fetchquest where I was delivering mail between two people and it just sort of ended. Maybe there is something more to it later.
    Played: 2/7. Early Morning.
    I got through the tower and through most of the snowy mountain place. Dropped off Royal and am about to talk to the boat captain. The level design is this game's weakness attribute. There's some clever ideas for abilities, and I really really am liking the characters.
    ~~~

    Played: 2/10. Early Morning.

    This game has some pacing problems. I spent the entire session going all around the map just so I could see a cutscene and go back to the mountain area to get into the tower there. I mean. I guess they wanted to you to go and explore for chests you may have missed and I did some of that, and there were some additional scenes. But it just felt kinda poorly paced.

    ~~~
    Played: 2/10. Evening.
    Got to City One. The new gun is interesting and the boss battles/story beats have been interesting. Basically my opinion on this game hasn't changed.
    ~~~

    Played: 2/10. Late Evening.

    ~~~
    Finished: 2/11. Midnight.
    Pushed on through to the end. The Impact Area (ei the last bits before the final boss) fucking sucked! Those encounters were super annoying and frustrating. I spent like 30 minutes trying to figure out what to do, because it wouldn't switch with the enemy when I would use the switch gun.
    I liked the story and concepts behind a lot of the bosses, but there was something about the combat that I just didn't really like. Something about the hitboxes felt weird. I can't quite place my finger on it, but I found myself taking damage when it didn't look like I should, or my shots missing when it looked like they should have hit.
    Visually this game is amazing. It's soundtrack is pretty good.
    also... fuck Elro and that you can't save Royal. The little inconsistencies with when you switch with things is annoying.
    The dev is a mutual follow on twitter so I've been seeing stuff about this game for years. Played about 40 minutes of it and it seems pretty cool so far. The character's hit box is a little larger than the sprite and that's a bit weird, but the abilities seem pretty cool. I like that it's directionless exploration.
    ~~~

    Played: 3/17. Midnight.

    I'm probably pretty close to the end. I got a lot of abilities. The bosses in this game are a weird sort of puzzle boss that unfortunately either involve a lot of waiting or other opaque mechanics. But I haven't gotten stuck on them. The last one I fought involved using the dash through glass mechanic in a clever way. Unfortunately it was basically just "do this four times".

    This game definitely needs a bit more polish. I got a charge upgrade for my one ability, but it doesn't have any feedback until you've charged it completely.

    That said I really like the aesthetic and soundtrack. I'm starting to understand how secrets (sometimes progression upgrades) are hidden.

    ~~~
    I completed it! Took about 5 hours and got 98%. I had a bug where the final boss music stopped playing, which is unfortunate because the music was real good. Some of it was a bit to obscure, but I really did enjoy my time with this game.
    This game is an interesting mix of match 3 and rpg, but it didn't really click with me too well. There's no music which is real weird.
    ~~~

  • Started: 3/31. Morning. PC Steam. Enjoyed.

    I got a big tax refund and decided to pick this up. It runs surprisingly well on my computer! The art and music have been great, but man the pace and story presentation so far have felt super budget in a way that is really jarring and kind of hilarious. The intro feels like a dream in that its paced real quick and characters don't really dwell on questions and just seem to know what's happening. Especially Roland. In some ways that's really interesting, but I get the feeling that it wasn't intended to feel that way and was more of a "what can we do with what we have" situation.

    The combat is rad and so much more interesting than the first game. I really bounced off the first due to the combat. This game seems much better in that regard. I do wish I could bind dodge to O instead of having it be the same button as block.

    ~~~
    SO it wasn't a forest dungeon. In fact this game doesn't really seem to have very many "dungeon" like areas. I'm now in the dog gambling town. It seems a lot of my time spent so far has been wandering around getting into fights and that's it.
    ~~~

    Played: 5/19. Late Evening.

    Got back to this game and progressed with the story a bit. I now have the sixth character as temporary party member. I'm not too hot on how this game presents it's story though I do like this shitty Musk-like figure getting protested. I think for all of it's ambition, it clearly didn't have either the budget or desire to really go into detail about the story it wants to tell.

    ~~~
    Played: 5/20. Late Evening.
    I don't like this dungeon I'm in. All the enemies are orange or higher for some reason and there's a lot of fights. It's not like I avoided fights much throughout the game. I don't want to go grind.
    This is very much an amateur made platformer. The controls have a really novice lack of polish. The jump is weirdly floaty and the attacks are extremely slow. The art is... fine. The character portraits sure are video game ladies... That said, it's cute and it seems like it has some interesting ideas.
    Also, I bought this because of the name.
    ~~~

    Played: 5/26. Afternoon.

    I forgot to mention this game's menus don't wrap. BOoo! It does have a charm to it though. The puzzles utilize it's mechanics well and can be pretty clever for a metroidvania. I fought a mushroom boss that was pretty well done. Unfortunately, now I have no clue where to go or what to do considering what I've explored and what my current abilities are. It looks like I need a high or double jump.

    ~~~
    Played: 5/26. Late Evening.
    I don't think I'll be playing this game til the end. It's just not very good. It has some rather annoying level design around these bee enemies that just constantly spawn and it's just real frustrating.
    ~~~

  • Played: 5/26. Early Evening. PC Steam. Mixed.

    I watched a lot of this game from a streamer I follow. I wasn't sure if I'd like it and playing it for myself I'm still not sure. Enemies have too much health or your spells take too long to cool down, or you take too much damage. It's just not tuned for my sort of enjoyment. I wish the gamepad controls could be rebound. The kb controls seem like the way to play the game, but I wish I could dash in 360 instead of with WASD. Perhaps I'll try playing it with gamepad and mouse. I wonder if it'll let me.

    I do like the concepts of the spells and such. There's certainly a lot of interesting ideas here. I just worry that it's ruined by the "this has to be DIFFICULT" mentality.

    ~~~
    Played: 5/26. Evening.
    Yeah I don't think this game is for me. I found you can't do the gamepad + mouse technique and I just don't like the general design choices for difficulty. I'll probably still watch it, but I think I'm going to return it.
    This game's controls are a bit too faithful to the original castlevanias. You can't turn in the air, or have any sort of air control. Your jump direction is determined by how you started your jump. Totally not my style. It feels really sticky and awkward. I might restart it as put it to casual instead.
    This game really wears it's inspiration on it's sleeves. They devs set out to make a 2D Dark Souls clone and they achieved that. I like the aesthetic though. It's nice. I don't know how much I'll play this game since, for me, it'll be very grindy. Even just on the first boss, I barely made a dent in the few attamps I made.
    ~~~

    Played: 5/31. Midnight. Enjoyed?

    I played up until I found my first rune. Beat the first boss, fought some spider people. This game seems pretty good for what it is. It definitely reminds me of my feeling when I first played the original Dark Souls. That feeling of "I don't really know where I'm going or when I'll be able to save. I'm liking it I think.

    ~~~
    Played: 6/2. Early Evening.
    Got to a blacksmith boss. I think I have him figured out and could beat him, but I was not in the right mind set to play this game how it wants me to during this session. You have to be very patient and only attack when you have the opportunity. And I just want to hack and slash.
    ~~~

  • Started: 6/2. Evening. PC Steam. Neutral.

    I had a hankering to play an RPG and I wasn't really feeling Ni No Kuni 2. I remembered I had this but had issues with getting the gamepad to work. Still had those issues initially, but found a fix on the steam forums. I played up til the start of the second mission and am not really sure if I'm feeling it to be honest. Mostly due to the writing, but there's something about the look and feel of the menus that I don't like. The combat seems interesting I suppose.

    The world seems ...ok? There's cool stuff about it, but I don't know. I'll have to give it more time.

    ~~~
    Played: 6/3. Early Evening.
    The pace of this game is kinda all over. The plot twist that the organization you're working for is actually bad is pretty obvious from the get go, so that little twist wasn't surprising. The writing is pretty bland and tries to poke fun at genre conventions, but doesn't really do anything to subvert or expand on them. This is especially true in it's flavor text. It tries to be cute and clever. "Video games, Space Operas, am I right?" but it just comes formulaic and trite. I wish it took itself a bit more sincere rather than trying to take the piss. The other games by this dev already did.
    It's combat system is interesting. It tries to give you reason not to use the same abilities over and over again, but also doesn't want to save certain abilities for future encounters. It wants to think a bit more strategically about what you're going to use and when. It's not quite there though. Since everything is reset after combat, you can just kinda give it you're all all the time once an enemy's health is low.
    I've been wanting to get into a new fighting game and this one seemed accessible enough. It's not quite there. The localization feels like it's from the 90's. The training mode is not quite where I would want it to be. The simplified inputs still require a bit too much execution for me. I tried a few characters and had a lot of trouble with the down>down inputs.
    I'll play more of it. I didn't even play vs AI or anything like that. Just some training and character stuff. Noel seems cool.
    I tested out all the characters and there's a few I like. Now I'm not sure what I really want to do. I'd like to try against the computer, but I don't really see an option for that other than the story or training. There doesn't seem to be an arcade mode. Also I don't really understand the mission mode, mostly because the text isn't really clear. I should probably run through the basic move stuff again and maybe the story.
    OK, I realized that you can just do one off matches versus AI in VS mode. Not ideal but it works. The character select screen is real sluggish though.
    I also went through the BB story and it's fucking silly. Those characters do not act like I expected, especially Nu. Oh boy. haha.
    I appreciate that this game does not take itself seriously even if the way it does it pretty generic.
    I think my team will be Noel and Yukiko. They're a lot of fun and pretty easy to wrap my head around, even with Yukiko's weird charge up move. I just need to get into the lab and drill in their moves.
    ~~~

    Played: 6/10. Early Evening.

    Just practiced Noel's combo challenges. She's really freaking cool and fun. I mash too much and often get an extra input in when I should only hit A twice.

    ~~~
    Played: 6/10. Evening.
    Was having a bit of trouble with Yukiko's combos. I tried playing online and realized I couldn't remember how to brust when getting comboed. I went it the tutorial for it and then just rebound it to D since hitting it when not getting comboed just treats like the normal raw tag.
    ~~~

    Played: 6/10. Late Evening.

    Messed around in training mode a bit. I can't figure out how to record dummy actions and the game crashed on me.

    ~~~
    Played: 6/11. Morning.
    I played a few matches against the Hard CPU with my Noel/Yukiko team. Yukiko's assists are so good. "Oh, I can just call the > Assist while mashing through Noel's specials. that's neat." Unfortunately, Noel doesn't seem very good with Yukiko. Playing matches against the CPU has been real good practice I think. I just need to drill into my head the combos a bit more. I might experiment with some other characters as well.
    ~~~

    Played: 6/11. Evening.

    I tried switching to gamepad. It might be better for this game, but will take a while to get used to. I'm definitely mashing less!

    For some reason I was expecting this game to be some sort of turned base RPG, but it's actually a pretty by-the-numbers God of War styled hack'n'slash game. It does have one interesting bit with it though. There's a murder mystery and time travel element to it. Seems to be the only two interesting things about it so far.

    The art style is nice and the music has been a mix of interesting and kinda generic. It doesn't run super well on my computer even after turning down the graphics a bit.

    I don't know if I'll stick with it, but it seems OK.

    This game really lays it's inspiration from the Banner Saga out there. It's damn near identical. Unfortunately the writing doesn't seem to be up to snuff. There's some really nice animation and decent voice acting. But the pace is kinda all over the place from what I played. Like there was just a hard cut to "oh no monster is attacking and your characters are facing it" from a scene in a shop.

    Despite that, the world is interesting, if a bit too "Game Of Thrones"-y. I'm going to keep at it.

    ~~~
    Played: 6/18. Midnight.
    Just played til the completion of the chapter. I was pretty much at the end of it when I had stopped before. I'm not really feeling the grimdark stuff in this game. It just feels so... 90's? Violence in an attempt to be "shocking," "gritty," and "real". It's not necessarily done poorly, but it just doesn't have any weight. And I think that doesn't really fly in 2018 any more. We know these horrible things like rape or women dying in childbirth happen, especially during displacement from tragedies. But to just casually throw such things out with only "ah, what a shame" is kinda... lackluster writing? I don't know. This game was definitely written by a man or someone who hasn't felt the danger of such things happening to them. Or perhaps, they have only read fantasy novels.
    ~~~

    Played: 6/19. Early Morning.

    I think I am liking this game a bit more. I decided to role play the one assassin character and I think that resulted in the game getting harder haha. But that's fine. The writing is still pretty lackluster, but I think I can find my fun with it. The one character seems to have a riddle/puzzle involved with them, so that might be fun to try to solve.

    Played: 6/22. Morning. Negative.

    I think I might be done with this game. I just got to a point where the one character gets 4 lady companions and it of course they're all former slaves, have a history of abuse in their bios, are referred to as "wenches" constantly, and are super hot. This game was definitely written by a person who I would likely not be able to tolerate and I'm just done with it.

    This game seems super cool and a real different way to do movement. There's a lot of smart design choices with it's movement too. I'm not too sure about it's dark souls-like mechanics, but it's upgrade system seems to make that less of a hassle then it could be.

    However, I played up to a point where I couldn't progress any more. There's a bit where an NPC blows up a wall for you to pass, but it turns out that wall now just invisible. It's like the collision wasn't turned off. Unfortunately looking for help online reaped nothing.

    ~~~
    Played: 6/24. Early Evening.
    The devs fixed the issue I was having. I got to a boss and they're really hard. I think it's mostly a movement thing. It's a bit tricky to wrap your head around, and the boss really demands that you understand the movement.
    ~~~

    I wish violence was less of an option in this game, because the combat is finicky at best, but I'm still enjoying it. I don't know if I'll play it to its completion, but I'll definitely give it a few more sessions. Lockpicking seems like a good skill to have invested in.

    I've been waiting for this game since ever first hearing about it. I read a unflattering thread about some questionable design issues that had me a bit cautious but I couldn't wait. The first thing that jumped out to me that I wasn't too sure about is that there is no way to rebind gamepad controls and the defaults are unintuitive. Backdash is on triangle and magic is on circle. However apparently it will be added in a future patch. I do appreciate that lets to set PS styled buttons on PC though. That's great!

    The game itself is more Vania than Metroid which I expected. It feels like one of those DS or GBA Castlevanias. The weapons are clunky and hard to us. I've been relying on the default sword because all the other weapons I've picked up have vastly inferior attack vectors. Either they're quick but to short or better but way too slow. There doesn't seem to be a way to cancel out of attack animations though I haven't really tried backdashing while attacking.

    The art is wonderful, and the music is fine so far.

    ~~~
    Played: 7/31. Midnight.
    I can confirm you can't cancel out of your attack with a backdash! Rats! Also dying in this game sucks. It's just game over, all progress lost. If you got a rare drop, too bad. So sad.
    It seems like the initial spells you can buy are all pretty standard Castlevania spells. So I got the Axe for utility.
    I will say that the proc-gen level design feels pretty natural. Even when you see repeat rooms. It doesn't "FEEL" proc-gen to me yet. Maybe because it's the same every time.
    ~~~

    Played: 7/31. Midnight.

    Got grip gloves and access to sell gems and buy potions/tonics. I'm not a fan of the running to find a save point that this borrows from Castlevania. I really wish enemies and lamps just dropped health. It'd be more fun and allow for more exploration.

    The whip was fun though. I liked the range.

    ~~~
    Played: 8/1. Early Morning. Mixed.
    Beat the worm boss. This game is not quite there. It's not terrible, but there's something about the way it doles out upgrades, new equipment, money. It's drop rate. It's just so slow and such a drip feed. It makes me wonder how different the end game is.
    Also I got a bone whip as a lucky drop and it's good. I don't know why you'd use any other weapon unless you don't find upgrades. The whips are just so much faster and had such good range.
    ~~~

    Played: 8/1. Early Evening.

    So I had to go into this ruined castle area to get the slide, so I could go through the garden area. I'm not really a fan of that sort of "dip into this area, so you get the thing to progress in the area on the opposite side of the map." Not sure if it's always like that, but I think it is.

    That unfortunate bit of level design aside, I enjoyed back tracking a bit. Found some cool, if generic, items. A lantern, a hat that gives me a bird friend, some weapons that aren't as good as the whip.

    This game really is just a Castlevania game. Warts and all. It has the Castlevania hallways (though they at least tend to be more interesting). It has the spells, the abilities, etc. I wish it was something a bit more original OR a bit more polished.

    ~~~
    Played: 8/1. Evening.
    I got to a part in the garden where I have to jump on these pendulum platforms over spikes that deal way too much damage. It sucks. It's very early Castlevania. Boo.
    I wish this game was better. Just having health drop or more available would make it better. Or if dying was less punishing or something.
    Played: 8/19. Early Evening.
    After getting burned out on Dead Cells I wanted to come back to this game. I was also hoping that given a few weeks they may have updated it with configurable gamepad controls. They haven't. It's still painfully mediocre. I want to write a review of it, but I feel I won't finish it and that my thoughts won't be particularly unheard already. This game needs a lot to be better.
    I just faced a boss that made it pretty much impossible to dodge. I can hit it pretty easily with the axe, but I would have to grind to get magic back and the stuff to upgrade the magic.
    I don't think I'm coming back to this game. It's a real shame. It had so much promise.
I spent a good long time installing all the HD texture mods, and I guess the game looks better. Still plays the same. I have OPINIONS about this series and certainly don't hold it up on a pedestal like some folks do, but it still holds a special place in my heart. For the longest time I had a hard time going back to it because I couldn't play as anyone other than "my" Shepard. It just didn't feel right seeing a character who didn't look like the one I first made. I've gotten over that.
    Officially farther then I was before. I got up to a big battle on the boat. Some real interesting stuff up to that point. I really love that the quest design isn't "get me 5 bear asses" or "talk to this guy." There's some puzzle solving and light roleplaying. It's great!!
    Finished that fight and am now outside Driftwood. Helped some Chickens. I would really like a shop. haha.
    Played: 9/08. Evening.
    I can now see ghosts. I really like that I had to use the actual Combine mechanics solve a puzzle. I wonder how robust they are.
    ~~~

    Played: 9/09. Midnight.

    Doing stuff around Driftwood. This game certainly got a lot more difficult. I find I have to sneak and steal more. There was a really bad escort mission that was thankfully short. Still took a whole lot of retries. Monsters are a few levels above me. I'm finding I can't really find good gear for my main character. Also I'm actually out of money. haha.

    ~~~
    Played: 9/09. Early Evening.
    I killed Lone Wolf disguised as a merchant, explored a fish basement, and taddled on the chef who was murdering magisters (yay) but then adding them to the stew (boo).
    There's a lot of game here. I don't even know where to start. I barely have left Driftwood. I freed a Lich and then killed a lot of magisters for the hell of it. I also spent way to god damn long trying to find a leaver when it was right in front of me.
    Walked through a graveyard. Fought a lot of bugs. Met a graveyard keeper. Performed surgery on a lady. Consoled Gareth, then dug up his parents.
    ~~~

    Played: 9/14. Evening.

    Exploring the black pits. Got into an extremely difficult fight that involves keeping this one NPC alive. There's just so many enemies. I'm going to have to re-think my strategy.

    Played: 9/15. Midnight.

    Got through that fight without trouble this time. Then completely explored the Black Pit caves. Met and fought an eternal, then tricked a sorcerer to power me up then killed him. Now I'm exploring his mansion.

    ~~~
    Played: 9/15. Early Morning.
    Gosh there was so much stuff in that mansion to steal. Also a giant spider who was not my friend. The Weaver. I also sold a bunch of stuff to the philosopher skeleton and then answered all his questions right. Well can't get that stuff back. haha.
    I do with this game didn't have so much flower picking. I can't resist clicking on every book shelf, barrel, and crate. Though most of them have nothing.
    I'll probably finish up the stuff in the graveyard and black pits before heading onward. I should probably go back and do the fightin' pits in Driftwood too.
    ~~~

    Played: 9/15. Evening.

    finished up the Black Pits, but what's his name got away again. Funny how he got away at the docks twice for me now.

    Also I forgot to sent the war owl to the paladin guy and then got back and there was a massive fight with some undead, but also no one made any mention of it afterward. So I don't know what's up with that.

    Played: 9/17. Midnight.

    Finished up most of Bloodmoon Island. Still have some stuff that I don't know if I'll got back and do. Maybe. There was a really good scene with Lohse. Seems there's one sorcerer who wasn't a complete scum bag!

    ~~~
    Played: 9/17. Early Morning.
    Did the elf quest in the sawmill. Didn't even talk to Roost, just killed him. Then I explored the area a bit and met some folks connected to the Red Prince. Can't say I'll actually bring him to them though. I stopped when I found a dragon named the Harbinger of Death. It had a red outline, so that should be fun to fight.
    ~~~

    Played: 9/19. Evening.

    Fought that dragon. Then met a succubus, accidentally fought here. Then wanted to finish up some quests in the graveyard and the game crashed when I summoned the genie again. Whoops.

    Ok. What a session. I did a lot of stuff. Killed Sibelle's Master, Killed the mother tree also. Prayed at all the alters. Found a back way into the Divinity area, but went back. Now I just opened, however I have unfinished business with the Sallow man. So I'm going to go do that first probably. Though I expect it'll lead me into the same area.

    I am pretty much done with the Nameless Isle. All I have to do is finish up the well and I'm done. I convinced all my party to let me ascend. And actually did the quest, but then reloaded and went to complete other stuff.

    ~~~
    Played: 10/05. Midnight.
    Finished Act 3 for good. Had a sexy scene with Sibelle, and arrived in Arx. I really like Malady's voice actor.
    Also I found at the end of Act 3 you can attack the party members you didn't use before you even enter the one bit and just kill them there. It's easier that way.
    ~~~

    Played: 10/10. Midnight.

    Did some stuff in the Harbor. I don't think I killed the Kraken. Only scared it off. This last act seems kinda... I don't know. Maybe I'm just sleepy.

  • Started: 9/30. Late Evening. PC Steam. Enjoyed.

    I've been following this game for a long time ever since I met the dev at a local meetup. In a year where a lot of substandard Metroidvanias have come out this game seems a cut above the rest. I really like the music and it controls pretty well. Noticed the contact damage is pretty rough though. Story seems fine so far.

    ~~~
    Played: 10/06. Evening.
    I played for like 3 hours. Beat the Queen and got the Plasma Orb. It seems extremely good. I'm enjoying this game a lot. It does take a bit too much from Castlevania's level design though. It suffers from the "Castlevania Hallways" where there's not much in the way of geometry and it's just copy/pasted enemies that block your progress. It's not just that, and there hasn't been the traditional "large enemy that you cannot get around" yet, but it's definitely there. The quest system is also bit unimpressive. It's just "go get X of Y item." It's fine. It works. But I wish it was something else.
    It's nice that there's queer folks though.
    Beat the game. I really enjoyed it. Great cast of characters. It's difficulty was right up my alley. Not too hard, not too easy. Though I think some folks will have an issue with the game being too easy. Some of the later areas had the dreaded Castlevania Hallways but by that point I was so powerful it didn't really matter. It was the right length and didn't have the bloat that I was fearing it might. If anything it could have probably used more equipment. I was playing through most of the game with only one accessory. Then near the end of the game (especially from completing sidequests) I got a bunch more. Orbs on the other hand. There's so many of them. A lot of them are real cool too. Though I settled on a few later game ones, I did use all of them throughout my play through.
    Started this game with my GF. She's not too into it. I was hoping for something more like Oxenfree, but it's more like limbo. The PC version is pretty wonky. The menu is constantly going to the left and I have to use the mouse to select anything. The gameplay is super stiff and awkward too. I know that's kind of the aesthetic of Swery, but well... it's still stiff and awkward.
    My GF found the body horror a bit more disturbing than she thought she might. The violence against women trope is certainly... well... I don't think you'd see this sort of violence with a male character.
    We got to the graveyard. I was trying to collect all the donuts. I'll probably end up playing the rest by myself. Which is fine.
    Played: 10/21. Late Morning. Mixed.
    Played up til the train. Through the terrible dark area, and sawmill. I don't really like the puzzles or the way this game controls. It's too much like Limbo mixed with something like Flashback or one of those other sideview adventure games. The story hasn't really grabbed me at all. I hope there's not too much left of this game.
    ~~~

    Played: 10/28. Early Evening.

    Fixed the controller issues. Then got through the spot I was having problems with. I got to a dark tunnel area and I'm trying to get the one Sleepy Donut thing, but I got killed by the monkey and it sent me soooooo far back.

    I finished the game though I didn't get all the donuts. I liked the way it teased it's reveal. It that pretty well. Some of the later bits were not really great. I got stuck on the clocktower where you have to jump from chain to chain between moving buzzsaws.

    I am curious what the additional ending is if you collect all the donuts. It's normal ending is pretty mixed. I'm curious how more explicit trans folks feel about it.

    I do appreciate that it unlocks a lot of nifty cheats after you finish it though. That, alone will make me probably try to find all the donuts I missed.

    The end credits locked up on me. Fortunately it only seemed to be the motion and not the whole game. Mashing seemed to get them unstuck. I had a few parts where the game would hitch up a bit. Not sure if it's my old ass computer or what.

    I'll probably get the other ending and then write up my thoughts on it.

    ~~~
    Finished: 10/31. Evening.
    Collected all but 3! donuts. I think I may have an idea where those 3 are. Or well two of them. I also found a few of the F. K. secrets and they're extremely good and I wish they weren't a new game+ thing.
  • Played: 10/14, Late Morning. Switch. Mixed.
    I played this a bit with my brother while visiting LA. I did not like the controls. Playing with the Switch's terrible analog stick felt real bad, and none of the control options put rotate on the L+R with fast drop the bottom face button. I don't think I'll ever pick up a Switch.
    I've been meaning to play through this game with my GF. Now that Delta Rune is out, it seemed like a good time to do that play through. We played up to the Papyrus date.     My desire to play loot games lead me to this one. I never beat it, played pretty far into it, I guess. Restarted now. I don't think I'll finish it it. Maybe I'll play more of it. It did sort of sate the desire a bit.
    So I'm in the Security area and there's no way to heal if you take damage initially. So I kept having to restart the floors because I only had 1 HP and any unlucky turn would kill me. Any choices aren't saved either, so I had to redo everything I did on the floor. I don't know about that. This game seems like they want you to replay it once you have the knowledge of how everything works. I like the trappings around it, but I don't really think the main mechanic is made clear enough to you.
    This game is cute. My girl friend and I enjoyed it. Thought there was more to it though, but I think I'm confusing it with that pool game released by Adult Swim. Still it's a good cute little experience.
    I didn't think I would pick this game up, but after hearing how much the folks over at Waypoint liked it I decided to get it when it was on sale. I played up til after the first boss fight. Got to the hospital area. It is a B game for sure and feels OLD, but kinda familiar. I've liked what I played so far. It's sort of corniness is right up my alley.
    ~~~

    Played: 12/01. Late Evening.

    Finally got back to this game. I spent most of it just walking around and talking to people. It's really cool. I'm not a fan of the combat, but I imagine it works a bit better on gamepad. The controls were obviously more designed with gamepad in mind. Ah well.

    I'm liking the characters though. They're all pretty well written.

    ~~~
    Played: 12/02. Early Evening.
    I think this game expects players not to do a lot of side stuff until it would make narrative sense. I had already talked with everyone I could around the hospital before pushing the story ahead and the game's story doesn't make much sense to do that.
    I played for a good long session. Am now around the docks. I appreciate the game adds some of the political climate of the time period and confronts stuff like labor issues and class. That said, I'm going to be totally fine with killing all the Wet Boot Boy fuckers, I think.
  • Played: 12/11. Early Morning. PC Epic Store. Enjoyed.
    I loved pretty much all of Supergaint's games, but I was a little cautious when I heard they were making a rogue-lite since I come to their games for the fantastic writing. Fortunately there's a lot of that here. It seems like it's all voice acted too for the most part.
    The game itself seems alright. Pretty similar to Bastion. I couldn't really get a good feel for the combat until I unlocked the shield. I with that I was able to get up to the first Fury. The shield is pretty mindless, but that works for my playstyle I guess. I do hope to see more interesting abilities for each weapon. As of right now, they're all pretty basic. Nothing like Isaac or Nuclear Thrown absurdity.
    I'm still pretty cautious since there seems like there's a lot of content planned, and I would imagine it's currently just up to that first Fury. I could see there being A LOT, and it not being "finished" until 2022 or something. Personally I would have liked to see more stuff like Pyre though. Gosh I love Pyre.
    ~~~

    I'm still in the forest. This game is just as cute as Undertale. It does seem to have the same structure as Undertale though. With "this is the bad guy of the area that you'll make friends with." But it's charming and funny and well written.
