GOTY 2019

I didn't play a lot of the games that got really a lot of recognition this year. In fact you can see all the games I've played and what I thought about them for each section on my list here.

Honorable mention goes to games that were on my list last year, Slay The Spire and Hades.

List items

  • This game is great! sort of a mix between Uniracers and Ikaruga. Really has the "just one more attempt" thing going for it. It plays super well.

  • This one surprised me. Not only do I really enjoy it's combat and the way it streamlines it's RPG mechanics, but the story and characters grabbed me as well.

  • Edelgard was right.

  • THE FUCK DOES CUNO CARE

  • The best Castlevania since Portrait of Ruin. It's not quite as good as some of the other castlevania-likes that have come out (ex Timespinner), but for what is basically an official one it's fantastic.

  • This was a game where playing it I had a lot of frustrations, but the more I thought about it the more I realized how much I enjoyed my time with it.

  • Great podcast game. Great multiplayer game. You can easily edit a file to give you all the unlockables and then just have fun.

  • I didn't finish this game 'cause the pc controls were pretty awkward and I couldn't find anyone to play the multiplayer parts with, but it was really cool. I don't think I'd ever enjoy an mainline Monster Hunter, but this sort of arcade-y version was right up my alley.

  • This game was cute and short. I kinda wish there was more to it, but I liked what's there.

  • I don't think this game is there yet. It has a lot of good ideas, but I can't figure out how to not die constantly to see them. I certainly will continue to watch it though.
