I think it's weird how I don't even categorize the Nolan trilogy as "DC" films, they are a class above and beyond anything either Marvel or DC has put out, ever. As far as the actual non-Nolan movies themselves, I feel like they both have their strengths and weaknesses. Marvel has almost perfected their action scenes, I mean, that airport fight scene in Civil War is pretty good; but then again before that, that whole movie had me falling asleep. Their character work, dialog scenes and generally anything where someone is not actively punching something/someone needs a ton of work. They use temp music like there is no tomorrow, so you don't feel much of whatever they're trying to convey and because they need to keep cranking these suckers out, you feel like NOTHING matters in those movies. And they're starting to get into the Spider-Man 3 problem of having too many characters in their movies.

DC, on the other hand, I feel does a better job at characterization. For all intents and purposes, Superman vs Batman is a Batman movie; and the Batman character is developed well in that movie; aaaaand that's pretty much all the positives I can say about that piece of junk. Man, what shit-show. However, back to the characterization, I actually really like the first 30 minutes of Man of Steel, the character work is excellent, but with their current schedule for their DC cinematic universe, I feel like it's pretty much impossible to go back to that, now; and that, I feel like is the biggest problem with super-hero movies. They make so much Goddamn money, that these companies feel compelled to keep making them, and to keep making them, you need to always end the movies the same way they started with maybe some slight altercations. So, the movies feel meaningless. You're just there to watch these characters fight. You're not there because you want to see what happens with the Batman character, or if Captain America will be good terms with Ironman again, because you know they will be for the next Avengers to work. Thus, the whole cycle is messy, and there is no good solution for it.

@gaff: That would be pretty shitty if they just put out a picture very Red Dead looking without any explanation just to promote Red Dead Revolver.

The Saboteur recently went up on GOG, and this thread is to show this game some love.

The Saboteur is probably one of my favorite games of the past generation. Technically it wasn't anything ground-breaking, but it had heart. A whole lot of heart.

I feel like after Assassins' Creed took off, everyone was waiting for it to go modern, give us guns and climbing; and The Saboteur did just that. The gunplay feels good, the climbing mechanics, though slow by today's standards, were great back then. I like games that give you freedom in movement, and by that, I mean they give you the mechanics, and the playground, and let you do whatever you want; this is something that I feel has held back Batman games for me, they're too context sensitive; imagine the grappling hook of Just Cause, with that of Batman, the same comparison I feel is apt for the climbing of The Saboteur to that of Assassins' Creed. The stealth wasn't too shabby, either. It actually reminded me of Commandos, an isometric stealth game that had the whole disguise thing way before any other game that I remember.

And it's got styyyyyyyleeeee. The whole oppression by B&W, freedom by color gimmick works well. The soundtrack, even though it's around 10 or so licensed songs, are 10 or so REALLY good songs. All these elements come together to bring a WWII Paris that really stuck with me, even 7 years after its initial release.

Anyway, go check it out. I think it's $10 on GOG now; and GOG has patched some of the PC performance issues, as well.

Hey remember a few years back when Matt Hardy was posting suicide notes on Twitter to try and get attention? It's weird how he's one of the best things about wrestling now.

I feel like we're in that resolution-obsession period again, back from when the new consoles launched, and then before that, when Halo ran at like 560p or something on the 360.

There is always gonna be people who want every last pixel they can get, I am a video/photographer and I am like that with cameras, I get it, however, when it comes to gaming, frame-rate is way more important to me. I couldn't play L.A. Noire recently when I tried to get through it again because it is locked to 30. 60fps is a must for me, even if I have to turn down lighting effects or AA.

I started playing The Saboteur on PC again (love that game), and that game has a glitch where in any 1920-x resolution, the map starts glitching out. It has to be 12xx- something resolution for the map to work. And it's fiiiiiiiiine. The resolution isn't really the problem for me with older games, it's really the smudgy textures.

UFC 203 was underwhelming, and CM Punks fight was a trainwreck. You can respect him for having the courage to fight in the octagon and taking the beating that he had, but the reality is he never should have been in there.

On one end you have the UFC making a documentary, pushing the interviews, giving him open panels with Q & A's with fans, far beyond what they give to established fighters. CM Punk was a victim of his own ego and UFC preyed on him for a cheap boost in PPV buys. Shameful of the UFC to do this. I'm not being mean but I think Mickey Gall and his team had to come up with a plan to be as merciful as possible to Punk and not to too seriously injure him. Punk is lucky he didn't match up with someone who wouldn't give a fuck and lay him out on a stretcher.

It is pretty shitty of Dana to prey on the guys dreams for PPV buys. A two year guy shouldn't be fighting a guy like Gall. Punk agreed to it because to turn it down would be stupid and what not, but still.

Anyone would accept those circumstances. And now that it's set and done, Dana is saying Punk probably shouldn't fight in UFC for his second fight. Yeah, idiot, he shouldn't have fought his first in UFC; too late now. At some point it is impossible for huge organizations like UFC - WWE to not be shitty moneywhores.

On a positive note, how great is this whole Broken Hardys thing? I can't believe they got this shit on TV. If you guys aren't familiar with it, this is the type of shit they used to do on their internet show called "The Hardy Show"

This whole "let's fight in our crazy compound" started in that thing around 12-3 years ago, but that was around the same time Matt got fired from WWE and went totally, legit crazy. I guess he is making fun of that time now? I don't know.

That was really hard to watch. Punk looked really in shape and ready, but man, he looked like an amateur just throwing punches like that when you know Gall is just gonna throw a take-down immediately.

That was like watching your child-hood hero get beat up.
