I generally agree, but I think MGS4 had excellent art direction that wouldn't have had the same gravitas if saturated.

FarCry 2 looks pretty average to me. Good-to-average I guess. Didn't you play FarCry 1? It's kinda just a bogstandard FPS franchise and the trailers for FarCry 2 do little to dissuade me. LBP is at least pretty innovative and ties right into the direction that videogames and web based content is going, with its community driven stuff. I don't know if either of them are going to be my GOTY though given that they'll be released in the same year as MGS4. That's going to be a tough act to beat.

Their podcasts are excellent. Being based in the UK I have access to Edge Magazine if I want editorial content. These days I rarely read reviews, people are much truer to their opinions on podcasts and anything worth its salt has trailers and demos.

Having a ps3 and a 360 together is fantastic. If you have the money and want what the 360 offers, then why not?
Yes, Halo 1 and 2 work perfectly on the 360. There's also a lot of XBLA titles to check out. They all have demos, you're sure to find bunch you like.

Are we only going back as far as 2007? Because at a push I could make a list as long as my arm detailing games, their hype, and how they delivered on it as far back as 1990.
In fact, why not make a list? The website has the function built in but people still make threads in the forums that amount to the same anyway. I guess that as long as people can't offer their own suggestions or comments to GiantBomb lists, people still have to go to the forums for outside opinions. Someone slap up a coder, I want community lists goddammit.
