The lofty hype for Cyberpunk from all over the place (marketing team, press, fans) spun the game and its expectations so out of control. I'm glad it is out and not delayed yet again actually, just so that phase can be over with.

It sounds like a game I'll have a good time with, but for this entire run up since they've shown it (a few years or so) I've felt sorta out of it looking at the hype when I come across it. I recall the first big E3 demo from a couple years back that the press got and later was released on youtube. I recall Waypoint gushing over it and how brilliant and interesting the game was, and GB's preview was positive but not superlative. Then when it finally came out and I watched it it...looked like a video game. A cool one that I would likely have a good time with, but not so close to the revelation some of the impressions were letting on. If the otherwise same exact game that launches out on Dec. 10th came to the expectation of something closer to... Alpha Protocol? may have been more apt. Hopefully the game pans out in the long run.

I always love Jeff 2 Jeff, and this game sounds great. I can't wait to play it next week, but it also seems like a game that could be uplifted by a great modding community and if the support for it is as good as TW3, great expansions as well.

Zelda 2 is neat but like a lot of more "complex" NES games, it is held back by its hardware and design decisions (and I suppose poor translations) of the day. If they had made it as a mid generation SNES instead of mid-gen NES game, I'm sure I would like a lot. If you were there at time I'm sure it was exciting, but as someone who played it decades later on emulators it was just kind of frustrating. Shovel Knight kinda did it better.
Only a few games like Mario 3, Metroid, and Zelda 1 work because of how accessible the gameplay is and they're pretty forgiving. The first Legend of Zelda almost feels like an arcade game in its elemental simplicity and initial mechanics. I suppose some of the RPGs are good on the system too but even FF2 is a mess that needed a remake.

also congrats Brad. Hopefully you can move onto one of several games you've had on your back catalogue for years like Mario Galaxy and DMC3. Unless there's some other games you've jokingly teased over the years that you'd rather give a shot.

For being somebody who has played a ton of AC - and decades of gaming in general - Vinny seems so confused at the beginning lol. "Wait, why do I need to kill these guys? Am I the bad guy?"

Vinny just likes to poke fun at the given logic and purposes presented in games.

Really enjoyed watching this and gave me a hankering to play an old one...only one I haven't beaten is Liberation time to whip out the Vita I guess.

Also please just play this in its entirety, watching Vinny run riot is too good!

AC Lady Liberty is on a bunch of other platforms like PS4 and Switch by now, I do recommend it. It's not as good as the best ones but solid if you're a fan of these games.

GOTY so far. Hard to see anything topping it. The amount of care that went into every asset and design decision really shines.

Yeah it isn't like in 21 days from now any games are coming out that could potentially redefine next generation, become the cornerstone for every game that follows in its footsteps, and more than likely surpass game of the year by becoming game of the decade. I can't think of any games that fit that description.

I mean I hope Immortals Fenix whateverthedangthingiscalled is a good BotWclone with some softer edges but I don't know if it will be that good. I hope at least it is the best of the Ubi 2020 Open World Trilogy.

P.S. I know you're talking about the potential greatness of CP77, I hope that game is as great as can be as I adored TW3.

I'm always so surprised by the dichotomy of Brad being so into tech, and yet so reluctant to actually upgrade himself.

It's actually not an uncommon thing for a tech-junkie to say, "That's new gadget is so cool! HELL no I won't be getting one at launch" for a number of reasons -- maybe their tech-junkie-ness means they love an earlier-gen product for its quirks, or maybe they're frozen by the concept of "but if I buy the new thing NOW, the next New Thing(tm) will be out in a couple of weeks!"

Yeah, that's Osborne Effect in action. For instance, you could upgrade from your current (for me iPhone X) to the latest iPhone 12 Pro...but knowing as much as you could you may want to wait until the 2021 model of iPhone which will assuredly have every upgrade of this year's model and more. In the case of the phone, I'd imagine Pro Motion will be there next year, which would be huge for me.

In the case of 4KTVs, I got a TCL on black friday a couple years back for like $220 or something...one of the best purchases I've ever made for sure. I may upgrade at some point to a larger one next year that has 4K120 (this year's 6 series models have some issue I can't recall) etc, but honestly that isn't much for me and 8K does nothing for me so I don't see myself getting into that for ages.
