Hunterblade Video - Criticism Requested

Hi, guys. So, a few of us interns are going to be doing a few videos in which we take a looksie at some free-to-play games on the PC, being that we can't really run new releases on this PC at the moment (it is something of a POS). Being that this is the first one we've done, I'd like to request a bit of criticism, as well as any suggestions for free-to-play games we should make videos of. So, FIRE AWAY!

Don't run around so goddamn much doing nothing. You should always be showing off the game, not running in circles. Even with the excellent banter that took place at the beginning, the aimless running was really bothersome. Other than that I thought it was pretty good. Maybe not the most informative bit of content, but I enjoyed it and learned about yet another game I never want to touch. Once you got out of the circuit I found the video quite entertaining and you seemed to do a good job of showing everything particularly important off in one way or another.

Well I can say that the point about it being Monster Hunter was a little...belabored. Maybe only spend about 5 minutes on that next time and spend more time actually looking at what the game is, especially if people aren't that familiar with Monster Hunter. Otherwise I think you did a pretty good job considering what you had to work with.

Hey Matt Kessler, your description of Monster Hunter as a real time strategy RPG was probably more insightful than all previous Monster Hunter coverage on Giant Bomb combined. I think i now understand why players put up with the slow animations and everything.

Ha, play League of Legends or Heroes of Newerth yet to highlight just how disgusting a videogame community can get.

@MordeaniisChaos: Yeah, sorry about that! Awful, awful habit I have. I should have spent that time showing you guys the town. Next vid we do on free-to-play stuff will not have this nonsense. Thank you, sir!

@GunslingerPanda: Oh man-- not a bad idea at all. Wouldn't be difficult to do, especially if we, say, instigated some of it. Politely instigated, anyways. Otherwise, though, I feel we may just upset a lot of people if we do that, but I'll keep it around in all the extra space I've got upstairs. Either way, thanks for the suggestion.

@DanielComfort: It seems to be a common problem. I found it helped to have something specific to show off at the beginning as it guided conversation in such a way as to focus on the game, not whatever random tangent you might want to go into about the game. Kind of kick start it so it's in motion from the start.

Play Vindictus. Its actually good enough to be a retail game and the cash shop is mostly for cosmetic and exp buff purposes.

I like this idea, keep them coming guys!

Steam F2P is a nice place to start. That way anyone even remotely interested can just hit Go on the download and give it a shot. Dragon Nest, League of Legends, DC Universe, Lord of the Rings Online, Dragonica, and APB come to mind. Also, if you want to have more of a running commentary about the game, it may be worth considering recording game footage and dubbing over it. Or, if this affects your formula too much, have some hard info on some notes to the side so you can access that stuff readily.

I think that the feel of these videos is certainly more Let's Play than Quick Look. If that's what you were going for, it's pretty spot on so long as you remember that even if you're engaged because you're talking, it doesn't mean the viewer is engaged and thus, watching random running-around-on-screen can almost be distracting.

Good on ya, though. The volume levels, video quality and content was all quite good. Cheers.
