In the 200th issue of Game Informer, they suggested the following games were the greatest ever made. My ambition is to play every game on the list. Can I do it? (spoiler alert: probably not! that's a lot of games!)

I can recognize that Donkey Kong is a classic and incredibly influential, but I was always more of a Donkey Kong Jr. guy. Is that wrong?
This is one of the most amazing games ever made. This should be higher on the list in my opinion. I am not a completionist, but I did every single Riddler challenge and would have happily done more. Batman: The Animated Series was incredibly influential on my childhood, and this hits all the same sweet spots. I've never felt more powerful in a stealth game before this. The best thing ever is when someone is crying out that such-and-such villain is about to do some horrible thing, and Batman just says: "No he isn't."

I'm not a Gears fanatic, but I did enjoy the game. I also liked Gears 2, and will play Gears 3. The combat is satisfying, and the graphics are extremely impressive.
This is the first Metal Gear game I played. Some parts of it I wasn't thrilled with, but some parts were so amazing that overall I view this as a terrific game. Once you're over halfway through, there are so many big moments it's staggering. Though I'll admit I skipped some of the cutscenes, like the ones of the plane with the fried eggs.

I don't know what to say about this game. It is very good, but it's another puzzle game, and there isn't much to say about it. I think nowadays they call these Planet Puzzle League or something?

Am I allowed to say this is the best game in the Mega Man series? Sorry 8-bit Mega Man fans, but I never fell in love with the series until this entry. A robot who sometimes uses a giant robot suit to fight robots is awesome.
Lemmings is pretty sweet, but it's no Lemmings Paintball. Only kidding! This is a great puzzle game. I like that getting a perfect is sometimes impossible, as many lemmings simply must be sacrificed to proceed.

Hell yeah! Between this, Arkanoid, and Tempest, I think there is a very good case to have commercially available spinner controllers for modern consoles. There are some great games that simply cannot be played any other way.

Good puzzles, great world and art design, but the difficulty eventually pushed me away.
I played this for almost three-hours straight before taking a break, but then found out the old GBA cart I bought had a dead battery, and lost all my progress. I'm still counting it though! I saw what it had to offer, and I enjoyed it immensely.

Meh. Not huge into Borderlands. I didn't bother to do a lot of the optional side-quests. It's pretty much an FPS, except really, really long.
I played this in arcades a lot, but really was into the SNES version. I know it's not technically as good, but I had easier access to it, and so I played it constantly. Strangely I also really liked the music in this game.

This is almost the first game I ever played in HD (I think I tried Hexic first) because it came with my Xbox 360 from Gamestop. I really got into it, and tried to play it in Veteran after finishing it the first time, but never managed to get it done. I just liked the noise and the chaos and the spectacle of it.
I know I played this game back when I first got a PC in the mid-90s, but it didn't have a huge impact on me, since Doom was already around. I don't remember much from it.

I love adventure games, but this one didn't quite do it for me. I can't believe Secret of Monkey Island isn't on this list instead. I thought the puzzles were too illogical, even for an adventure game.
It's a decent game, but I think it got a little repetitive. The best thing Assassin's Creed ever did was lead to the creation of Assassin's Creed II, which is a really amazing game. Suddenly I'm way into the story, after not really caring about it in the original.

If you were really in that ship, what a miserable life, right? Just constantly on the verge of death from mindless rocks coming at you from every direction.
I'm not personally that into this game, the controls are a little floaty to me, but I really admire what they accomplished. It's amazing what some of the users came up with in the created levels.
Isn't it a little weird how everyone loves this game now? I feel like no one was that into it when it was first released but now it's one of the best games of all time. It's got some fun, chaotic stuff, but the actual campaign gets really tired after a while.

It's good but it's no Berzerk. How many times do you have to rescue those people anyway?
I'm not into turn-based strategy, but I loved this game when it came out. I think it was something about the art style and the destructability of the environments. I remember shooting aliens through a picket fence and thinking it was awesome. I didn't get too far in the game though because I didn't have the patience for researching the technology.
Peggle is really fun, and the way everything zooms in when you hit the last peg and the music soars is great, but I don't quite get the fanaticism. Between this and Canabalt I'm not sure how people don't just move on after a few plays.
Yes! I love this game. One of the best adventure games ever made. I love the story, I love the characters, I love the environment. I even loved the ending song. "Girl in the toooooower, I'm reaching out..."

Braid is the only game to make me feel like I'm actually becoming smarter while playing. I think I could feel my brain expanding. Being stuck on a puzzle for like an hour and then suddenly understanding was an amazing experience. Though I think too much has been made of the artsy-fartsy text pieces, and the "Are games art?" debate.

Yes! I love this game. I think this is one of Rockstar's best, better than some of the Grand Theft Autos. The characters and the setting are so amazing. I really just want Rockstar to keep making games like this but in different settings, like one with pirates, one with spies, one in medieval times, and so on.

Here lies madness. It's fun as hell but absolutely wacky. At some point playing a game like this you have to sort of let instinct and reflexes take over, and can't make conscious decisions about what to do because there's too much going on.

I was really into the Tekken games when they first came out, but not so much these days. I played a lot of Tekken 3, but can't call up a lot of concrete memories about it. I always played as Xiaoyu, that I know for sure.
Phoenix Wright is a good game, and I like the characters and the writing, but I seriously can't believe this made it on here and not Secret of Monkey Island. When it comes to adventure games, Monkey Island is both better and more influential than Ace Attorney. Also, the Phoenix Wright games are too long, and wear out their welcome.
Despite the art chosen in the Giant Bomb database to represent it, we're talking about the 16-bit version here. Anyway... He's on fire! Boom-shaka-laka! etc. etc. You know what I'm talking about.
Fun shooter, I guess, but man those dream levels.
Yeah it's a good game, but I'm not that blown away by it. I guess because I don't really do online multiplayer. The single-player is fun but I don't think it tops the first Modern Warfare as a sequel should.
Back in the arcades, when I played Neo Geo fighting games I either played this or World Heroes, even though, objectively, I recognize that World Heroes is not very good. I usually played as the green guy with the claw, though, even as a kid, I thought the gas attack was a little juvenile and distasteful. Also, why is Showdown spelled that way?

This game is amazing. I think it's one of the best Mario games ever. The art style is so beautiful, and the level design is incredible. So wonderful.
I wonder if people who've only played home versions of this game even like it. I've only played it in the arcade, and I can't imagine it without the trackball. The madness comes in when you're slapping that silly ball as fast as you can trying not to roll off the edge. Without that it's gotta be pretty sedate, I imagine.
Does this game really deserve to be here? I mean, it's good, but it's a little long and a little repetitive. I mean you can shoot lighting, and that's neat.

I'm not good at this game, but I do enjoy it. I like the Servbots, and anything Servbot-related. But anybody who is even a little good at this game can destroy me easily, and makes it not that fun for me. I'll just play single-player on easy and go Ooh, Ahh at the pretty colors, thank you.

Last but not by any means least. This is a really great game that I played years after its release, but still enjoyed. I got really hooked on going around and taking pictures of the animals. Other games with picture-taking get pretty old, but by being incorporated into an action-adventure game it was able to be fresh and fun throughout.
