Ahh, the early 2000s - when you only needed one or two voice actors to perform a single take for each line, and all other sound effects were taken from The Free Sound Library. :b

Stubbs was super fun back in the day, but super rough that it hasn't had anything more than token improvements made to it.

Would you like to go to the..."PlayStation Store"? Ah hyeh hyeh hyeh

Yikes. Between the very low-res graphics, stock sound effects, generic music, stale, stiff dialogue and the "you can't plant crops anywhere you want" and "go do this boring quest for a boring reward" mechanics, it sounds like players who want a enjoyable Harvest-Moon-experience are better off playing Stardew Valley or any number of other independent spiritual successors to OG Harvest Moon. ESPECIALLY when the indy games are 1/3 of this game's $50 price tag.

Hm, are the weird, twitchy spasms the characters make before performing their attack animations a consequence of GB's capture equipment, or is that actually in-game?

EDIT: Ahh, I didn't realize Jan had the battle speed cranked up at the beginning of the video. Good to see there isn't animation-jank there after all!

Woof, that carnival-caricature art sure is...a style. Also, as someone who doesn't play wrestling games but enjoys other fighting games, it seems like a very button-mashy type of system; there aren't enough animation frames to watch the opponent's moves and block or counter them.

Except it doesn't say "This is the way Ghost and Goblins is MEANT to be played". It says, "Aye, this is Ghost 'n Goblins!"

"Aye, this is Ghosts 'n Goblins" meaning, of course, that the difficulties that aren't the hardest are NOT Ghosts 'n Goblins, really. Meaning, if you do want to play "real" G&G you have to play on the hardest difficulty. Meaning, like I said before, that Legendary has the developers saying, "This is how Ghosts 'n Goblins is meant to be played!"

Context is important.

where does that "I... can't move!" line come from? I think about that once a day and I have never known why or where I picked it up.

It was what the heroes in the Captain America and the Avengers arcade game used to shout when they were defeated. Being an arcade game, kids of a certain generation would hear it a LOT.

GW . . .refuses to make a 1 to 1 digital version of the tabletop :(

Pretty sure that would be counter to their interests. They want people to go out and buy the physical miniatures and play in-person games, and while a digital version of the exact same game probably wouldn't impact the hobby in a negative way, there's an argument of "why do the same thing again?"

Also, these computer games can do things you can't do (as easily) in the physical world, and vice-versa.

Also #2, there are plenty of virtual-table-top apps and programs out there that allow you to legally play the exact same Warhammer format on PCs and mobile devices as you can in-person. (Vassal, War Table, Tabletop Simulator, etc.)

Is there a reason the song at the Blizzard Arcade Classics title screen is basically the Spy Hunter theme?

The "Spy Hunter theme" is "Peter Gunn" by the band Emerson, Lake and Palmer. Rock and Roll Racing has the rights to use that song in their game. ;)

@milpool

Like Brad said, he didn't pick the hardest difficulty; the hardest difficulty is the Default setting. The description text also states "This is the way Ghost and Goblins is MEANT to be played".

How crazy is it that this collection won't let you listen to Rock and Roll Racing's licensed music in their music player...but the menu screen plays a cover of "Peter Gunn" on a loop?

EDIT: Also, I totally agree with Jeff that having Larry Huffman reprise his role as the announcer and ALSO add entirely new voice lines is fucking nuts. Good for them!

Damn, Vinny's right; even watching someone else solve these puzzles gives me a sense of satisfaction. :D
