I agree with Hailinel that the sequel is very good. I can't remember the story, but I do remember it not getting high marks among reviewers (the fact that I can't recall the plot may be telling). The action is quite fun though. Playing Vanquish recently (one of my favorite games) actually made me think about going back to Zone of the Enders 2.
Also, Theme Hospital! I wonder did the rights for those fold into EA or does Molyneux still own them? Bullfrog represent.
A revamped Them Hospital would be great and quite topical. You could have gameplay mechanics around medical malpractice (do you directly employ your doctors directly to control them better and increase effectiveness, or hire them as independent contractors to avoid tort claims); drug company kickbacks; and Medicare fraud. If it let you choose between making an elite, Mayo Clinic-type institution or one of those Thailand medical resorts that would be even better.
Have you contacted your university's IT department? My school's IT group actually tried to preclude people from using routers (I believe there is a technical way to do that), so that may be going on at your dormitory as well.
Yeah this was my big fun sleeper shooter this year. I really enjoyed the hell out of it. Probably one of the first games to really make shooting robots feel satisfying.
Vanquish did a very good job of making fighting robots fun as well.
The New York Times has an obituary of Steve Kordek, the inventor of the modern pinball machine design, who died recently at age 100. He had an illustrious career which began by chance when he stumbled into the Genco company's lobby to avoid a rainstorm. It is worth reading, and gives interesting insight into the history of pinball. Before he came along pinball machines had six flippers. He came up with the 2-flipper system and supplying direct current to the flippers which allowed for more precise ball control.
I haven't played it in awhile, but stopped because I was tired of getting hacked. At the time (2010) cheaters were able to taint matches so that everyone taking part immediately got leveled up Level 70 10th Prestige. Sounds good on paper, but it completely removed the entire metagame. The only way to revert back is if you had a recent backup of your saved data since MW2 cloud syncs on Steam. This happened to me twice, both times resulting in me having to erase my progress and start over from Level 1. The second time I also ended up losing all my single player progress in the process. I don't know if the hackers have moved on to other games at this point, but it seriously detracted from the fun.
I'd like to see another Grandia game. The battle system in those games is pretty great and exciting.
FFXIII does a pretty good fast paced JRPG battle system. Despite my complaints about the game, I still really liked the battle system.
Grandia had a fun battle system. I especially liked how the battle music changed half way through the game. Vagrant Story's system which melded rhythm timing, rock-paper-scissors affinities/attributes and targeting is my favorite by a long shot.
