Was I a fool for not buying Uncharted 2?

Short story short, I wanted to buy Uncharted 2, but I had to buy only 2 games. One of them were always going to be COD:MW2, because I love the COD franchise, and the other one I hadn't chosen yet. I chose yesterday. Demon's Souls.

Demon's Souls I picked because it sounded awesome. I enjoyed games which are hard as hell, and this game was an RPG, which I really wanted to play. I did not pick Uncharted 2 simply because of the fact that I did not enjoy the first one.

So what do you guys think? Should I have bought Demon's Souls? Are my reasons for not buying Uncharted 2 stupid, because Uncharted 2 has improved greatly upon Uncharted?

I don't even own a PS3, and I know for a fact that you missed out by not buying Uncharted 2. GO GET IT.

No, I don't think so, it's not like the game is going to evaporate off of the planet earth if you don't buy it on the day of release.
It totally makes sense if you didn't enjoy the first game why you would purchase another game over it.

I can't believe you bought Demon's Souls instead of Uncharted 2. Didn't you watch the QL?

Shouldn't you just, y'know, play the games you have, decide if you like them or not, and then later on get uncharted if you still want to? It's not like that was the last chance you'll ever get to buy the game.

Yeah, what he said.
You could even get it like next month or something, or when it gets cheaper.
It's not really that big of a deal

After playing some uncharted 2, yeah you should have bought it instead. I think demon soul is a great game also but if you like call of duty and the way they present their story, you're going to love uncharted 2. They fixed that shooting problem that was present in the first game.

Well, because Im 14, I dont have any way of gettting money.

And because I can only buy games with my money, it'll be a long time before I can get that oppurtunity.

I find that hard to believe that just because you're 14 you NEVER get money.
You probably get some money at some point, and then you can save up some of that money, or even go down and trade in some of the older games you've completed and get like a great deal going that way

Uncharted 2 looks like a lot more fun, and a lot less frustrating, with good multiplayer as well.  If you wanted to play Demon's Souls then I think it doesn't matter, you will play Uncharted 2 someday, and if you had bought Uncharted 2 instead you would have still wanted to play Demon's Souls later on.  If you can though, sell some games and maybe find some way of making some dollars here and there, and buy less food or other things, save the money.

@dbz1995: No, you aren't a fool. Chances are, if you had gotten Uncharted 2, you would have beaten it in maybe 2-3 days (The usual time span action adventure campaigns - maybe it's even shorter because Uncharted 1 was short) and then you would have been left wanting a game that would have lasted longer.

Demon's Souls, on the other hand, is an RPG, a very difficult one at that, and has much more to it than simply running and gunning and platforming. A much more in depth game IMO. I mean, I haven't played Uncharted 2, but it's a third person shooter. In terms of gameplay elements, It's bound to be pretty generic.

Also, Uncharted 2 will be around for a long time and might drop in price (Unless it does the same thing the first game did and cost full price 2 years afterwards -_-). Even so, you can find it used somewhere. Demon's Souls on the other hand... I'm thinking it may be hard to find later on.

Judging a game solely on how long it is (without including the multiplayer) is garbage.

But he's also a kid who doesn't get much money very often. Shouldn't he try to get a game that will last him for as long as possible? I know the whole debate between the length of a game vs. the experience, but since he can't really get his own money, I think he made the right choice. Demon's Souls has multiplayer too.

Thatll take me another year, and I'm gonna buy GOW Trilogy, Final Fantasy XIII, and GOWIII, probably.

Now, apparently my PS3 doesn't agree with me, because its now become completely retarded.

You had to choose between three potentially awesome games (I say potentially because my copy of Demon's Souls won't be opened until I'm done with midterms and papers so I can't verify that I actually think it's awesome), and you chose the two that weren't Uncharted 2.  Whatever.  I've been playing Uncharted 2 for a day, and while it's absolutely amazing, it's not like you're going to be missing the boat by jumping in later.  The game's not going anywhere; just get it and get into it when you have the time.

Oh and I agree with Red: judging a game on length is fucktarded and you should feel bad.

I don't think so. You'll probably get a good multiplayer experience in MW2, so having a lengthy RPG single player game on the side is always good. If I had to pick from those 3, it would be Demon's Souls and either MW2 or Uncharted 2.

@iAmJohn: I'm also putting the factors of replayability and his financial situation into the equation. If he had enough money to get all three, I would say go for it because the game looks awesome.

If he had gotten Uncharted 2, he would be bored when he finished it and maybe played through the campaign again by the time MW2 comes out. Whereas he could still possibly be playing Demon's Souls by the time MW2 comes out. I'm not "judging it because it's short" I'm giving him a heads up on a game which is probably not as long as the game he bought, therefore, he wouldn't get bored in between waiting for games. Sheesh.

@xyzygy: I wouldn't completely agree with you there. Though I personally didn't like it in the beta, he might've taken a shine to the multiplayer of it. That would certainly bump up the replayability of the game.

I think you should buy what you like and not feel an idiot for it. No doubt the reviews certainly suggest Uncharted 2 is a vastly improved game over the first but hey, if the genre's not for you or whatever, it's probably worth holding it out a few months and maybe get it bit cheaper/when you have more cash or something.

Personally I'd go with Uncharted 2 everytime. But that's because I loved the first and have been following the game for months. Plus, everyone has a different opinion. It'd be boring if we were all the same. So no I don't think you were a fool.

I'll tell you if it's worth picking up when I've played it though, yo!

Personally I think you did fine.  Demon's Souls is going to be very hard to find and Uncharted 2 won't...it's really about as simple as that.  I've got both and I'm anxiously awaiting to get home from work to play Uncharted but so far Demon's Souls is absolutely amazing so I hope you enjoy it :D  Also ^^^what get2sammyb said.

Well if you dont buy it later on...yes.  But there are also better games out there.  Demons souls look aight, but watching the quicklook of Dragon Age: Origins, I would have gone with that if you wanted a hard RPG.  So the lesson here is to buy in order
Uncharted 2
Dragon Age
Demon's Souls.
I am pretty damn sure you will see Demon's Souls at bargain prices in a couple of months for sure, maybe even close to christmas when people are trying to move product but for sure after the holidays.

@dbz1995: no, all i have heard about U2 is that it has an amazing single player experience and an ok online. Since you already have two great online games there just go rent U2 then beat it over a weekend and save your money for another game. Like brutal legend! or dragon age!

Yeah, could you ask your parents for some money to rent Uncharted 2? I don't know where you live and how much it costs to rent things but I think Blockbuster is only like 4-5 dollars for the weekend. By the time MW2 comes out you KNOW that's the online game you'll be playing anyway.

Nah, you never know, it could still work out.  If you get way into Demon's Souls, it looks like the kind of thing you could get more out of than you might from Uncharted 2.  The best popcorn flick in the world is still only a popcorn flick after all.  There will still be people playing and talking about Uncharted 2 whenever you get around to it - The time to be playing DSouls is now, if ever.

Personally, I would have chosen Uncharted 2 - but you'll probably find out that these unconventional, gut instinct decisions usually end up being the right call in the end.

ha, i made the same choice and now i'm freaked out. DS is freaking hard! i read all the reviews of course but experiencing the reality is so much different.

uncharted 2 -- sounds like a great game. i loved the first one and the sequel sounds like it gets even better.

if i buy another game this year, to balance out the pain of demon's souls with pleasure, it will be borderlands. waiting for the Uncharted 2 Game of the Year inevitable release in 2010 that will include the DLC! :p
