14 years, co-founded the site, and you guys managed to give him one PR-spun paragraph, followed by a sales pitch that only vaguely describes how great the site will be when Jeff is gone. You say you're not going to gloss over this kind of heavy-hitting news, but you certainly did. Absolutely horrible sendoff for one of the best in the biz.

Thank you for everything, Jeff G.

Also, can I just say that Vinny's reassurance regarding -- 1) the purchase by RV and 2) Bakalar heading the games group -- made me really optimistic about the future of the site. I wouldn't be saying that if it weren't from Vinny's mouth.

Same, I am not in the boat of contracts or RV is causing this but it was good to hear Vinny mention it as he didn't need to one way or another.

I would still like to know why everyone is leaving but it very well could just be it was time and they want to do other things. We may never know but all that matters is they are better off once they are gone.

Oh brad. Why are you doing tech videos...

Probably because he is interested in it and it's fun to watch.

I don't watch a lot of their stand-up but I love listening to the Keith and the Girl podcast.

I'm surprised the team thought Dutch was being overly brutal at the end of Chapter 3. I was all behind the events at the end there. They had just kidnapped and sold off the camp's kid.

I was all for this moment as well. They were bad people and I saw it as Dutch being protective of his family...it wasn't until much later that I started to feel that he was not a good man....or at least his whole person was a facade.

That family were slave owners and were dirt....sure it was brutal but they kidnapped a kid and we needed to get him back. We've been killing the law and others all the time in this game without batting an eye.

I'm puzzled why Dan/Giantbomb is covering this? I guess they got a code and thought, "Why the hell not"?

I imagine Dan saw it and got excited and wanted to warn people away. I say the title for this and actually got excited for a second and was thinking it would be cool to play a game with characters I grew up with....then I saw the video and it looks bland.

The reason the game doesnt stop when you pause is because it's always online, not because it's being shitty. This port looks awful.

Except when you're not online?

If anyone wants to go see a good look at all of the actual new content in this game go check out Waypoint Austin Walker's stream of NMS on twitch or their website. They cover a lot more which GB didn't even know about, like missions, side quests, frieghters, land rovers, hostile alien swarms, how the main quest differs, warp gates, etc. They did their research.

I had a feeling GB would just try to jump in from a new game without realizing most of the new stuff is later on in the game. To be fair, the beginning of the game is somewhat different than V 1.0 but it isn't substantial enough by itself to make video content for.

This is more useful for people like me where my friends wanted our group to get this game. After watching this and seeing what the co-op actually is I am glad I turned it down.

Who cares what the end-game is when what they are showing off is the co-op.

The thing is, it's not end-game content Austin was showing. He was showing content after about 4-5 or so hours into the story. So no, what was shown here is not the full extent of the co-op. I mean Jeff is even tweeting about his new experiences in the game even now. GB decided to jump the gun too soon and thus what we saw was a bunch of jumping around and shooting at pirates/sentries because NMS is first and foremost a narratively structured game that unlocks content as you go. It's not Left 4 dead, CoD Zombies, or Fortnite co-op where you are given all the tools upfront. It's hard to explain and hard for me to compare it to something else but hopefully I helped give you a better idea as to what I mean.

Nothing I've seen outside of this really has any great hooks for the multiplayer. Maybe it will get there eventually but so far everything I've seen is you can play it with another person but no real reason to.

The game still looks boring to play and the coop while finally being added to the game does not look worthwhile.
