Absolutely, 50 years from now children will be astonished to learn that of all the liberties Men their age were able to have. Enough freetime after a day's work/schooling to play a few videogames, hang out with friends whether online or off, or discuss political/religious views anonymously without fear of repercussions.
In a Globalised World where everyone can speak English as a first or second language and low-skill, low wage contract laborers can be airlifted abroad to any factory/office to bypass labor laws, children will be astonished that in their highly-competitive, zero tolerance schooling children were able to be just that, children. Workers will long for the days of stable work environments where they would be guaranteed a full set of hours, and weren't behind this month's rent because their apathetic and indifferent manager wouldn't give them enough hours. A World where they didn't need to learn political correctness in Mozambique or have any cultural sensitivity training as a prerequisite for their shitty job. A World full of overskilled and underemployed peoples that are disposable at any time and at any place. Longing for fair and representative, uncorrupted democratic republics. A world where corporate interests weren't state interests. Longing for the days when militaries were better funded than domestic police, when governments were fighting each other rather than their own people.
Yeah, I remember hearing about this years ago from these very same forums. It might even have been from you, Seppli. Don't get me wrong, the work they're doing here is mightily impressive, but it's not like this is the first time we've seen such things. I remember Nvidia showing off PhysX a few months ago with their collision physics applied to buildings, damn impressive. I wonder if Havok is feeling the pressure...
@stubbleman: I fucking love seperate beds. I roll around in bed even while asleep, if I don't I'll wake up with major back pains. Plus more covers for me!
