@ahifi: in the case of pal/ntsc, it isn't just frame rate, it's the speed of the game usually. They run almost a fifth slower in PAL (but some games were optimised back in the day - Tekken 3 was a notoriously bad PAL conversion even for its time)
On top of that, on the classic it is outputting these 50hz games at 60hz for no good reason, which adds judder. Complete mess.
I'm surprised and interested by the lack of nostalgia the squad have for the PlayStation or the interest they had in it at the time, maybe there was a difference between the US and UK there? PS1 basically single handedly made video games a pop culture phenomenon and most people in their 30s are probably very nostalgic for it. It's the NES of mid-90s UK.
Now I think about it, a lot of the classic games on the system were British in a way that never happened again after that, this may be related in some way.
Sure, most of it doesn't stand up well today, of course.
@aktane: it's the PAL version that's slow. Lots of people here in the UK imported back in the day to have it at the proper speed. Why they put the shit PAL version on this is beyond me.
