@shivoa: Yeah, it's quite impressive that the article misses that most important point. In the UK at least, the key demographic for games can't afford them to the same extent. Nobody has any money spare.

I also think the stupid half-cycle upgrades of the consoles play a big part too.

I used to when I was younger, at some point in my mid 20s it stopped. Imagination dies as you age.

Hitman Blood Money was one that really prompted it often. If I was in certain buildings I would imagine how I would get in to assassinate someone.

A convenient way to watch videos on Xbox one is to use the giant bomb video buddy app for Android and ios to cast to a chromecast plugged into the console's HDMI input. I hope someone makes a windows store app!

Releasing it when they did was an act of folly. I want the game, I probably have the money for it, but I just got BF1. I will be dedicating time to that for a month or two at least. By the time I buy it I expect the online will be dead.

I think many people have quickly soured on the jetpacky sci fi shooter thing as well.

Inquisition has all the worst parts of Bioware games - bland combat, so-so main story. Unfortunately, it also removes some of the best parts of Bioware games - interesting and deep side stories and quests with lots of conversations etc, somewhat linear progression through small but well-realised locales. It replaces them with MMO quests and lots of empty open hub areas. It has some very good character writing though and I enjoyed my time with it until I eventually I wasn't getting anything out of the gameplay.

Witcher 3 outclasses it in every way. The developers did an incredible job with making an open world game that doesn't rely on padding it with meaningless cruft. Even the things which are usually very minor rinse and repeat side quests such as monster-slaying contracts or hunting around for armour usually have an interesting little short story, a difficult choice or a cool environment or a unique creature design or something.

It's also a much more distinct game in setting, tone, writing, characterisation and game design. It's like a work of classic literature compared to Inquisition's fun but poorly-written pot-boiler.

Dara is just not that funny nor charismatic, but I suppose he's the most suitable 'big name' who knows his shit wrt to games that they could get for this. He's no Dominik Diamond though.

Dan will bring out the evil side of Vinny that went slightly into hibernation with fatherhood. This will be wonderful.
