The update seems to cause instant VATS crashes on my end. Regardless of the weapon I have equipped or the target, I'm now pretty scared to hit RB. So I cleared my system cache to restore the original pre-update build and now I'm okay again. Guess I'll just have to play offline until I get a little more feedback. It's still pretty early for a consensus, but at least one other person on the Bethesda forums is having the same problem. The only commonality so far is that we're both loading up saves in Nipton; another user loading up on The Strip is doing fine, so... who knows?

I've read elsewhere that the Hoover Dam is on the world map for New Vegas. So, I wonder if it will resemble the old Van Buren design docs at all. I guess it's possible considering the Obsidian staff involved.

Whether or not the Mac finally becomes viable for gaming likely depends on just how many of us jump on Steam and start buying things once the Macintosh client is released - a lot of those things might just be Blizzard products. Valve's support is already a massive leap forward. If successful, and I honestly can't fathom any reason why it wouldn't be since any gamer who just happens to own a Mac will almost certainly be on Steam, I'm sure more than a few developers will consider putting resources into Mac-native versions of their games.

I'm curious: will non-Valve games that already have Mac ports (either native or Cider crap) also be on Steam from day one, or soon after? Civilization, for starters.

By the way, Valve just dated the release for the Mac version of Steam as May 12th, according to Mac Rumors. Usual disclaimer regarding Valve Time no doubt applies.

Vancouver-area EBs have it. Probably not on shelves though, so you'll have to ask the clerks. When I bought my copy, the manager told me that they've been having trouble keeping Deadly Premonition in stock thanks to the low price point and "the word getting out". Take that as you will!

Yeah, add me to the list of folks holding out for X-Com proper. Bringing the franchise back as a first-person shooter seems roughly analogous to resurrecting Freespace as an RTS. No thanks.

Nocturne is fantastic, if a much different experience from Persona stylistically and much more abstract in terms of narrative. Also, as tough as Persona 3 & 4 were at times, Nocturne is that much crazier. Still, well worth the effort of tracking the damn thing down, I'd say.

Even harder to find and just as worth it would be Persona 2, assuming you can overlook the PS1's visual datedness better than I can. Funny, it's probably easier to grab a copy of the translated Innocent Sin via the fan localization project than it would be to find a copy of the officially released Eternal Punishment. Play both if you can.

I'd love to see a few more connections to the first two Persona games. P3 had a couple of "blink and you'll miss it" references to things like the Nanjo Group, but that was it. More please.

...oh, and maybe a shift from high school to a college setting is finally in order.
