    re: Hiring a new person

Please hire whoever who suits the qualifications and requirements,. has the personality and all and make a huge point about it in the article welcoming the new employee, make sure the reason that person was hired is out in the clear along with the reality of the situation.

Write it like you're explaining to a grumpy stomping child why you cannot go to Disneyland right now, because that's how the internet is acting against The Escapist of all things.

Oh my. Now if you think the escapist is hiring based on qualifications and not political affiliations then you're...a liar. Because it's fairly obvious that they're doing no such thing.

Holy fuck Danny, way to be out of touch on the subject of prostitution. Starting from the fact that the accetable term for people in that industry is "sex worker", the ignorant viewpoint you come from is the exact thing that makes so difficult to regulate and make it safer for millions of people (for the majority women) who choose this kind of job in a multitude of countries. Saying things like "i'm still not sure that there is any prostitute who is opting to be a prostitute and is not there because societal means made them get there (completely untrue)" or "funding the sex trade (when you know jack shit of the women you're talking about)" only exacerbate the stigma attached to people in this trade, who kinda already have the worse of it in the some of the contemporary western societies (luckily in some others of these it's getting better). I seriously suggest you get at least some basic informations on the matter before you openly use this kind of judgemental and simply untrue sentences again. I'll happily look for and provide you links to associations and unions in the english language where you can get a better understanding of the reality of this like of work would you ever like to inform yourself

I haven't listened to this part yet. But in my experience "sex worker" can mean anything from a prostitute to a stripper to a showgirl or x-rated model. If they're just talking about prostitutes, and not those other people, then I don't know a better word for it.

And while I know it's a popular third-wave feminist idea (in some 3rd wave feminist circles) to subscribe to the belief that there are prostitutes who love their job, choose to be in it, and do so without any sort of emotional trauma or scars, the truth is that they are the extreme overwhelming minority. It's a safe bet that the number of women who are forced into it (either literally or because they have no other option) far outweigh those who "choose" to do it.

I mean shit, if you live in a big town, drive down around where the street prostitutes work. See how many look 18 to you.

Never understood the dislike of Kotaku. They have a bunch of talented writers there. I wish Patrick Luck.

I stopped going there a few years ago when they published a story explaining how to cheat on your spouse and not get caught, providing links to cheaters dating sites and gross shit like that.

        Is that reason enough?

I doubt that a gaming site published such an article and that you are either a liar or clicked on a link to a Gawker article.

People don't like Kotaku for one of two reasons:
        1. They publish a shitton of content, which includes a lot of pointless BS.
        2. They're "SJWs."

I would say the overwhelming number of Kotaku-haters fall into the latter, because a lot of people in gaming still can't deal with games being treated seriously.

Honestly Phil comes off as so mentally unstable that I could easily see him leaking all that information himself. Whether it was him or not though it certainly wasn't 4chan, as anyone who browses could tell you how hilariously fake the statement "I am the head mod over at /V/ and leader of 4chan.org and Anonymous." is.

Given the nature of what was doxxed (basically ALL his banking and financial information that could be used for ID theft, it's obvious it wasn't him. But yeah, it wasn't 4chan either.

Why is every negative comment deleted on this site?

The extreme moderation on this site is forcing me to reconsider paying money to a site that censors everything I come to say. I read all the comments on a video/podcast/post before commenting and zero people have brought up the elephant in the room. EVERY TIME. Why do I usually delete my comment before posting it on this site? Because I, and people who have similar sensibilities are being excluded from the community by people like Rorie and the oversensitivity brigade. ( I love you Rorie )

Any hatred based on LBGT/Race/etc is horrible. Why do I have to even type this? Because anything negative posted is being deleted. And I can't believe that I am the only one who didn't like this episode, and wasn't a homophobe in the process. So I feel that the GB mods are lumping people together very broadly and with considerable disregard for the similarity of what they are doing, to what they are fighting against.

Silencing dissenting opinion is bad even when you are in power.

Openness and free exchange of ideas should be the goal right?

But in the end I can't even talk in a "public forum" about my views without being asked to "take it to PM".

What would you do if someone said that about someones conversation about homosexually being underrepresented in videogames? Even when the topic came up on the podcast!

Because there's been an overwhelming number of hateful, disgusting and homophobic nonsense for no reason other than "OMG gay woman" so I assume that's made the mods a little punch-happy.

Hate speech, harassment and threats are not "dissenting opinion" nor "openness or free exchange of ideas"

And not every negative comment has been deleted, so quit your overreacting.

And what exactly is the "elephant in the room?" Please, tell me in a way that doesn't sound like you're trying to make something that shouldn't matter, matter in a weird and gross way that has no bearing on anyone's credibility to be on a podcast about video games.

I don't understand how anyone could have anything negative to say about this Bombcast. Samantha was an amazing guest, one of the best they ever had, they talked about a potentially serious topic in a very fun (but still worthwhile and educational) way, and the second half had some of the most hilarious digressions and side-topic conversations on a bombcast to date.

I'm just happy to see people like me, Depeche Mode fans, represented more fairly in the media.

Awesome great list full of stuff I would have never discovered otherwise. It's the best kind of Top 10 list!

I really don't understand the hate its getting. I mean, why? What's the point. Leaving mean-spirited or angry comments about something like this...that's just DUMB in all the ways imaginable. And the fact that this list is getting so much more shit than any other "alternative" or indie-centric Top 10 list GB has had in the past really makes i even more obvious that this culture is a disgusting mass of idiot sexist manboy assfarts who should be lined up and kicked in the balls.
