my conspiracy theory is that they're intentionally taking it easy so that when it comes time to ask R*d V*nt*r*s for more staff they don't look at the weekly output and say, "Why?! You're doing great!"

Only when there is a very real chance I can fall and die and lose progress, or where the footing is uneasy / I'm not confident in my ability to keep going or make it back down safely. There's a bit in the slept-on game Hellpoint where you (optionally) slowly find your way up the main atrium zone, jumping from ladder to ladder, walkway to parapet, etc. At one point you go up into a narrow area at the end of the climb, which means, since it's narrow, that if you fall you can't use momentum or air-control to find your way to a ledge; any fall becomes the drop from The Eyrie in GoT. Just typing that up made my palms sweaty. That segment actually gives me vertigo to a degree.

Assassin's Creed, on the other hand, manages to make crazy heights feel about as detached from reality as you can get. There's no point where I don't feel like my character will lock onto something like they're on rails if I fall. The hay-drops are even worse. The forced-fov increase and the inability to actually aim your body on your own gives the moment zero gravity, no pun intended.

workin on this southish of spawn. Log Trolls coming in and single-hit wiping out a whole line of defense spikes has been a real pain in my ass. Thanks for the community hammer and cloak. Saved my ass in the early goings. Hope to contribute more to the community pool soon.

Glad you found Monster Hunter! I really do like voiceless multiplayer with people in games once in awhile. Gets rid of all the unnecessary stuff and lets you focus on teamwork and coordination.

Fuck Sony. It's such a unique feeling of being alone and hopeless without recourse when dealing with the underpaid disassociated call center operators of these massive corporations.

Thanks guys! That's helpful info. I don't mind breaking the bank a little if it means getting something I'm not disappointed with.

@geeqdoubt: Thanks for the links. I grabbed the HON Ignition 2.0, drafting chair version, with all the features. $490.94 but I'm happy with the choice. Actually looks nice, too, unlike the Herman Millers.

A drafting chair, aka a tall chair for counter- or bar-height desks. Ideally something with a seat-height of at least 27" from the floor.

Anyone got one they can recommend? Finding trustworthy listicles specifically for drafting chairs hasn't been fruitful, and every single chair I've found by searching seems to have one or two major flaws, such as:

  • hydraulic doesn't hold well and the chair slowly lowers. This is an absolute dealbreaker.
  • uglier than vomit / a gamer chair. Also a dealbreaker.
  • is obscenely expensive. My price range is $80 - $275. Please tell me you don't really have to pay $1,700+ to get a chair that doesn't kill your back.
  • No reviews exist so I'm not gonna risk it
  • Insufficient product information
  • search results are overwhelmed by cheap knock-offs sold by different companies. ~98% of the chairs out there seem to be cheap knock-offs.

If anyone here has one and can give a first-hand recommendation I'd much rather take your word than listening to legitRealReviewer2345234 say "[Full Product Name] chair both works and is comfortable!"

I'm Thinking of Ending Things

Just finished it on Netflix, and, after reading a breakdown interview with Charlie Kaufman, it's hilarious how much I did not understand or even have a clue about. This must be how Dan feels when he calls certain films "smart guy movies." I'm clearly not alone, though. I wish I read the interview before seeing the movie; would have enjoyed it a ton more. This movie is more obtuse than anything else Kaufman has ever written or directed, even Synecdoche, New York.

2/5, because I literally had no idea what was happening, but I love all the actors and the cinematography.
