Man, this company's previous game, Starscape, is Asteroids + resource gathering + enemy spawns + ship research and upgrade and design. It's really good for its age. So amazing!
@frankie_musix: I think a lot of people would enjoy being able to run these quests without interference. And it's OK for them to want that. Not everyone is into PVP.

I wasn't talking about the secret item in each Cloister, though those are good. These are actually a little later in. You're going to fight a giant amoeba, there will be a 'romantic' cutscene right after, and after that you neeeeed to go back to Besaid (the first town) to pick up a couple Overdrive related items. If you don't, a superboss will show up and block them.
There's another similar situation, but I'll PM you after some story reveals so I can be more specific. This one is actually the Sun Crest, like the Moon Crest you already got.
I.... my god XII is a very different beast. It's an absolutely amazing piece of work if you're into old-timey speak, political machinations, and the way wandering the living landscape works (no random battles- enemies are just *there*). But a ton of people hate it.
Giant Bomb really did this game a disservice. I'm not interested in the game at all, but Jeff has a 30 day trial, and putting 3 or 4 hours into a game before doing a quicklook is not asking a lot from A GAME SITE (if Jeff had no time, get someone else!). Jeff went in with the goal of shitting on the game, rather than actually giving it a critique (even though I expect the critique to be negative anyway). Show the game properly, let people decide if what's bad in the game is worth overlooking for their personal tastes.
