So in creating this list I realised I haven't played many games that where released this year. Not sure if that says more about me or the games that have come out this year, probably me i'm sure....
So here is not so much a list of the 10 best games I played this year more a ranking of the 10 I did play and they were all loosely released this year.....Honest.
the most fun I have had with a game this year. Sure it's not perfect i'm part through the story and have hit a point where I can only play in short busts before I have burnt out. But it keep me coming back and every time I play i feel like i am progressing. This game is best taken in small doses and not rushed. I can see this going on into 2019 for me.
I am just a little to old to have youthful reverence for Pokemon. I have played the games off and on but they have never grabbed me. This one grabbed me. I even went and threw hundreds of pokeballs to get 2 shiny Pokemon and have sent over 1000 of the little beasts to that maniac the professor. Well done Nintendo you finally got me and a shiny Koffing will be mine one day I swear.
OK so I have a problem, a Diablo addiction problem. I have suffered from this since Diablo 3 released and I wait for every new season with baited breath. So I can now continue this addiction on the go. This may not be a good thing for me but what do we know of restraint.
this was a nice little bite sized chunk of a 'vania' style game, nothing more but certainly nothing less.
I enjoyed my time with this game but hit the inevitable 'where do i go next' moment with no sign from the game several hours later and the game was closed and removed unfinished. I enjoyed my time with you Yoku, maybe we can get further next time.
I had never played Rondo of Blood and have never finished Symphony of the night, so this gives a good opportunity to kill 2 Dracula's with 1 boomerang.
I added this as it is still my go to for a couple of hours of mindless killing. I am one of those who has dropped of and not joined the forsaken band wagon. I see that it has breathed new life in the game for the hardcore but I fear I have been left behind.
Now this will be a shock to most. Odyssey at the top and this near the bottom. I'm not sure why but this just didn't grab me. I played for a couple of hours unlocked a fare chunk of the map and went "yep that's all i need". To be fare I had just finished assassin's creed origins so may have been suffering from open world fatigue. Sorry spidey
This is a bit of a shame game but i put several hours into this game over the year and think I enjoyed my time with it. It'a a bit like Chinese food you forget about it quickly after consuming it, but you just have enjoyed at the time right?
I rarely play mobile games but this one was an exception. I enjoyed this "catch'em" more than Pokemon Go so for that alone it makes it to the list. I still maintain Slimer should be an 'A' grade monster though.
