Red Dead Redemption is broken

So I'm just writing this to get the achivement. But as a matter of fact, I have something to say:
F YOU ROCKSTAR. I got RDR, and it freezes on my PS3. I don't care you use 360 as your main platform and PS3´s version is inferior, but make it work at least. The funny thing is I send them an email, and they say "replace the disc", i do, the problem continues, i write again and they say "contact sony". Just take responsability.
And they announce a patch coming, and it says nothing about the freezing issues, it addresses the multiplayer, but not the single player.

I've read people had their system broke because of this game. If mine brakes, is R* paying for it?

The ten minutes I was able to play, i had a blast... i wish they fix it.

Nope, I love me some open world games and have NEVER had a crash on my 360, Bugs yes, Crash no. (haven't played RDR yet though)
Also OP is on about PS3 version.

Ahhh okay. The majority of people I read having problems with the game (including me) are on the 360. GTA4 was the game that killed my first 360. Maybe it's just me. :(

There is nothing console-specific that would cause a game to crash the console - its either a malfunctioning console or a badly written game. Same way games can crash a PC, PSP or other devices.

The game does freeze/lock up on occasion on my PS3, it also crashes to the main menu screen or suffers from prolonged fits of massive slow down (I refer to it as "granny style"). But it's not "broken", it was just developed with very little quality control in mind (legion of bugs to boot). All that didn't stop me from loving it though.

40 hours on the PS3 version here, maybe two or three freezes in total. Try deleting and reinstalling the game data.

It gets to the point of people saying it doesn't have any problems (" What? I've never heard of either game freezing and I've played each of them for hours with no problems.").
I think people just can't relate. I have a perfectly working PS3, and tried two copies of a game that crashes. Maybe is my PS3 setup? But who is Rockstar to tell me what video output to use, or how many demos to have, or even what firmware to be installed?.
If they develope a game for a certain platform, they have to make sure it works on every possible setup.
I'm not the only one with this problem. I'm the only one here, that's for sure. And i have a problem, and the game FOR ME, is broken. It's broken and i'm waiting for Rockstar to fix it. Because that's what a patch does, it fixes things that don't work as intended. This is the case.

Mabe not appropiatte here, but good question. There was I remember mutterings of rockstar practicing slavery and driving their developers insane by such a heavy workload/short timetable and such. It sounded like the SS were pushing the RDR project, with Erichman reporting to Hitler daily at the top on the progress,..or lack of it. I think the Romans and the spanish Inquisition had a hand in it, also. There was that much drama for a short while at least. Then it turns around and becomes the best game ever made...except for some hicc-ups. Both discs also, with and ever so slight(can`t really notice) quality difference between 360 and PS3

i'm honestly pissed about it, because I got the PS3 version, and I most strongly suspect it is very close to equal..close enough. But these days, to me that is still fucking sloppy.

I'm sure they hushed up when they got their royalty checks. I'd fucking work my ass off if it meant creating such a masterpiece game. Sure, admins may have their balls in a grip but that's an internal company problem, not something the public needs to know / get involved with.

Sure... let them use whips, if the employees get paid after all, what's there to complain about?

And the game is GREAT, but it's buggy as hell, so i don't know how much of a masterpiece it is.

And so... the patch was released.
I installed it after deleting my saves and installed files... and presto, it works. I've played for and hour or so, and no problems yet.

So... i guess it wasn't my PS3 after all, and it wasn't the disc.
