Owning one mechanics keyboard I get but owning multiple mechanical keyboards is the quintessential definition of excess disposable income - good on ya if you have it though
Yeah these kinds of consumer hobbies can get expensive beyond your means even if you're aware of that fact. There was a brief period where I spent way more than I intended to on different keyboards and keycaps. Nowadays I'm still interested in keyboard stuff but I wouldn't consider myself "part of the hobby"; I'm just looking to build myself a split keyboard which is small but not too small and minimal frills to keep the cost (relatively) low. No more ludicrously expensive keycaps for me!
I dock my Switch primarily because the joycons suck for me and legitimately cause me physical pain if I play with them for too long. I dunno if it's because I have large hands but the main sticking point is where the sticks are located causing me thumb and wrist issues. I dunno why they're located as such since it wouldn't make the Switch that much wider if they just put them in a more ergonomic place.
With adequate fencing a dog will stay within the confines of your yard whereas a cat will go around murdering native wildlife unless you have a yard-encompassing cage.
Anyone coming to a game at the 6th main installment, expecting a completely different experience is deluded. Then when it does differ, that's also referred to negatively.
The whole argument around story mood vs gameplay is also so trite at this point.
Its a violent FPS, open world game with characterful antagonists. What were you expecting?
The intro is like "this dude is really evil, look at all this terrible shit" and then the game gives you quirky mechanic/genius with a clothed alligator for a pet.
It's not gameplay vs story mood, it's story mood vs itself. I'm sure it's possible to pull off a mix of serious and goofy but from what I've seen and heard this game doesn't. It comes off as though some people on the team wanted to have some serious commentary (non-political, of course) and others wanted to make a schlocky action story with goofy/campy stuff.
With respect to gameplay, it seems like more of the Far Cry formula and if you like that then go for it, I guess. Some of the stuff shown here looks pretty fun but it occurs to me that I haven't played one since 3, so I could probably just pick one of those up and get much of the same experience.
Honestly I didn't even get much of a negative vibe from this QL. Jeff seemed like he was having an alright time and most of the criticisms seemed warranted.
I like how the intro tries to set a serious tone with the horrific acts of violence against the populace by soldiers then 10 mins later you're engaging in brutal DOOM-style glory kills.
Edit: with the introduction of Cortez and Guapo, I can't tell if the serious intro and marketing that focused on the villain is a result of people with very different ideas or if it's parody.
