The gross pervy stuff in Metal Gear has never been handled well, Kojima's never been good at portraying women and usually ends up doing something gross with those characters. The mix of violence and sexualization with the B&B corp in 4 was pretty bad especially because it didn't have a point - it was just the camera pointing at their asses after you defeat them and then Drebin tells you a story about how they were kept in cages as kids or something. The sexual aspect of it doesn't feel like it's there to make it point, it feels like its there because Kojima finds it hot - and those moments in these games has always struck me as not very fun and not very Metal Gear, at least not what I come to Metal Gear for.
The stuff in Ground Zeroes was the worst its gotten in that regard and I hope the Phantom Pain is a bit lighter with that stuff, because it does hurt the experience a lot.
Nailed it. Playing the games when they came out I remember thinking "this is pointless..." I replayed them about a year ago gearing up for V and I felt the exact same away. It just comes off as gross.
@contradictionvg Bought it JUST because I saw the Giantbomb videos and I've loved my time with it. Going to buy iOS version just to have it with me at work. Considering the whole demo script and budget thing it's really entertaining FMV. Can't ask for much more than that :)
