Day 10 - Thoughts on last night's bombcast. Plus, 777?!

On the latest Giant Bombcast, the crew focuses on primarily on games and the like, similar to last week, pulling away from energy drinks it seems. Things are finally slowing down at the Giant Bomb office, so now they're able to play video games once more! Ryan talks some about the latest Civilization. ReTarDedFisHy has been eyein' that game since announcement... hopefully he can pick it up himself and check it out!

Also, apparently Vinny's not a big fan of DBZ! or Naruto! That was a shocker, apparently ReTarDedFisHy assumed Vinny was a huge DBZ fan... nevertheless, Vinny says the Naruto Ultimate Ninja: Storm demo was surprisingly good! ReTarDedFisHy forgot to DL it last night, he'll post his impressions at a later date. He didn't buy QORE for nothing! >:D
(Also, the PixelJunk Eden Demo that they talk about is amazing)
They also talk about DCvsMK, and Marvel vs Capcom! ReTarDedFisHy's gotta say - they're both looking hella good. Especially DCvsMK.

In the Bombcast they talked about Telltale making a game for Wallace & Gromit! *joy* FisH really wants to see that happen.
Also, it appears that they are very excited about announcing video game news on the Bombcast. A "Woo!"-filled hour :D :D
Arcade Machines, "Little characters" and MK are aplenty in this week's bombcast. If you haven't already - check it out!

Just like John's 1337 status, Today must be ReTarDedFisHy's lucky day. He no longer has any pending submissions, and his pending subs page is greener than his friend TuRtLe. What makes it even more special is that his final point tally is 777 :D
It's ReTarDedFisHy's favorite number, so silent wishing must have done the trick (funny that he thought getting 777 would be the day he got a million dollars). Last time he was excited about this number was while playing Final Fantasy VII, and hitting a max combo with Tifa's "Jackpot" Limit reel.

777 = Must be ReTarDedFisHy's lucky day. Wednesday, July 30th, 2008

Now, this number begs the question:
Should ReTarDedFisHy get more points?
Or leave it at 777?
ReTarDedFisHy's vote right now is to just move on, but immortalize this lucky 777 status by posting it in his blog. Smart move FisHy. :D

-> In video gaming news,
  • Uncharted Trophies coming "very, very soon"

In a recent interview, IGN got to sit down with Naughty Dog's SM of Marketing Communications, Arne Meyer.

Apparently there will be 48 trophies, 47 to get in-game, which leaves the 48th as the platinum trophy, when you get all 47. It'll be really interesting going back to play Uncharted, ReTarDedFisHy won't mind it one bit as he was planning to re-play it anyway, because it's one of his favorite games ever. 50 kills without dying and 100 headshots here he comes.

As for the actual release date, rumors have been floating around all pointing to a release date of August 22. Better late than never right?

ReTarDedFisHy almost drowned when he saw this:
IGN: Do you wish to take this time and formally announce Uncharted 2: The Search for Atlantis? =)
Arne Meyer:
Hey, look at the time, gotta run!

  • Firmware (v2.42) Now Available

In another vague firmware update, Sony has released the new firmware update sometime last night. As another vague and mysterious update, you can expect the release notes to be, well, short. Well, here it is.

"Just wanted to give everyone a quick heads up that a PS3 firmware update (v2.42) is now available for download. This update improves the playback quality of some PLAYSTATION 3 and PlayStation format software."

Wow. Thanks for the update that no one will ever notice and be able to thank you for. No, really.

Day 9 - Magical Pants?!

Day 9, still coping with the fact that Activision might cancel the Ghostbusters game...
http://www.giantbomb.com/news/activision-we-may-in-fact-be-afraid-of-some-ghosts/115/
Already blogged about it earlier, but screw it. This sucks. Ghostbusters looked like an amazing game. ReTarDedFisHy doesn't like it one bit. Hopes that they don't can it, otherwise he'd feel real sorry for the developers working so hard on it... and also feel sorry for Activision for obvious reasons. Super Angry face >:(

Been pretty busy editing pages lately. ReTarDedFisHy isn't so into contributing images... he likes the more hard-working, legit style. Even though he jumped all over the "War" concept and flooded it with games and related things. But with the other submissions, he tries to work really hard on submitting well thought out articles for the pages. Still waiting on his huge Big Boss ESSAY though. The one thing ReTarDedFisHy really wants to get approved. As of this moment ReTarDedFisHy has 667 Points. A vast improvement to his 0 Points only a couple days ago. Oh yeah, one other thing, I thought that Wiki submissions were supposed to take longer than Image submissions? But for ReTarDedFisHy, apparently not, because so far only a few of his really old Image submissions have been accepted, whereas his Wiki submissions are being accept like crazy. No complaints though, as he likes to Wiki edit anyway.

But one thing in life is still awesome: Magic Pants, courtesy of Waverly Films.
Hit for Awesomeness. ->http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9jTd0qQqjQw
For some reason, no matter how many times ReTarDedFisHy watches this, it just keeps getting better and better...

Waverly Flims is actually pretty good. ReTarDedFisHy has been a huge fan since their DINOSAUR series. Hilarious.
Very Happy face :D

UPDATE ---> Day 9.5 - Ghostbusters still to see the light of day?

If you've been following my blogs, you know that I'm really disappointed by the mere rumor and chance that Activision Billzard may or may not cancel the Ghostbuster game, just because it didn't appear on Activision Blizzard's release list. However, in a recent interview with Sierra's PR, it's not going to be cancelled after all. Happy day.

Sierra PR said:

"It is not cancelled and it will not be cancelled."

But there's still a chance. ReTarDedFisHy doesn't like that.

Day 8 - Back on track.

Well, lately ReTarDedFisHy has been posting his blogs on an off day-to-day basis, randomly submitting his blogs when he thought it was the next day (which means hella early, or way too late). Initial reason for this was because of ReTarDedFisHy's sh*tty ISP, which constantly cuts and re-establishes his connection seemingly at random times. But not anymore! ReTarDedFisHy plans to keep blogging and talk about the news us gamers are interested in everyday this Summer.

-> In video gaming news,

  • Hater site Kotaku keeps publishing flamebait (Yeah, it's true, ReTarDedFisHy hates them... will probably devote a part of his blog everyday titled "Uh-oh! What's Kotaku done today to make them look stupid?"). Why do they think MGS4 getting price slashed in discount stores is news? Interested? Here's the link:
    http://kotaku.com/5029830/less-than-a-month-and-a-half-mgs4-in-bargain-bins
  • A recent update for the Private BETA Home -> v0.96.3. Apparently, the update can only be grabbed in the "Account Management" section of the XMB. Also, reports are saying that Home will be accessible through the main XMB (as promised), rather than through the Game section.  Now if only they would release that public beta... now. Some more details in the article:
    http://www.ps3news.com/PS3Online/ps3-home-beta-update-v0-96-3-release-this-week/
  • The recent Activision Blizzard announcement did not include the Ghostbusters game. An Activision Billzard representative says that they are now considering whether or not to publish those games that were not announced...
Bull sh*t!!! How...WHY?! would they do this?

Day 7 - ReTarDedFisHy's PLAYSTATION® 3 games.

Hey all, ReTarDedFisHy just wants to list some of his current PLAYSTATION® 3 games, as well as a little summary and a mini-review. He'll be posting his other titles at a later date, because there's good news! at the end. Enjoy.

                            • Uncharted: Drake's Fortune™
                              Developed by Naughty Dog® Inc.
Published by Sony Computer Entertainment America Inc.

                                      9/10

A personal favorite of ReTarDedFisHy's, Uncharted: Drake's Fortune™ was his game of 2007. With incredible production values, an invigorating musical score, and it's Indiana Jones-esque atmosphere, it is the perfect friend for a lost weekend. ReTarDedFisHy is going to hold his lips on this one - as his review is coming pretty damn soon... now if only he could find it within the clutter of all his review documents...

                                • Ratchet & Clank® Future: Tools of Destruction™
                                  Developed by Insomniac Games
Published by Sony Computer Entertainment America Inc.

                                          7/10

ReTarDedFisHy loves every iteration in the R&C series, and this is no exception. Ratchet & Clank® Future: Tools of Destruction™ follows Ratchet, a Lombax gearhead, and Clank, a robotic friend created by Ratchet fully equiped with gadgets of all sorts ranging from thrusters to heli blades to even hydro propellers. This time around, R&C F: ToD returns to its roots and focuses more on platforming, story and more balanced action, rather than the combat heavy Up Your Arsenal™. The cutscenes match that of any AAA grade Pixar movie, as well as the dialogue, narrative and story, plus the humor of genius writers. ReTarDedFisHy enjoyed this game in and out, from start to finish, and was actually surprised by the length of it and the lasting impression.

The game revolves around The Dimensionator, a powerful wormhole opening device that could tear apart the Universe. It was used by the Lombaxes to banish the evil Cragmites into nothingness. ReTarDedFisHy won't go into the story that much, but it's surprisingly entertaining. The game spans across several (actually there are alot) of different planets, each unique in it's own way from the fiery volcanoes of Rykan V, to the abandoned Lombax homeland of Planet Fastoon, to the menacing edges of the Cragmite homeworld Planet Reepor, there's literally a whole galaxy to explore. The game also includes several in-game minigames that include SIXAXIS™ functionality to solve puzzles or advance to the next area. R&C F: ToD has by far the best implementation of SIXAXIS™ functionality, while other games have far too much/too little sensitivity. There aren't many gripes about this game, but one is the fact that the game is way too easy, with no real penalty for dying, even after beating the game, where the difficulty is increased. Other than that, R&C F: ToD has a good level of replayability as you can go back and rebeat the game with the new armor you've acquired, as well as the weapons, you can also level up these weapons, according to how much you kill with it, rewarding players with favorite weapons. There are also new weapons and armor to unlock after beating the game. He actually wasn't expecting much going into Tools of Destruction™, even though he loves the R&C series, quickly labeling this one a "kiddie's game". Boy was he wrong, this game was, simply put, fun as hell. Not saying that Hell would be any fun though...
                                • MotorStorm™
                                  Developed by Evolution Studios Ltd.
Published by Sony Computer Entertainment America Inc.

                                          7/10

MotorStorm™ is a brutal offroad racing title developed by Evolution Studios. If there was a game that would convince ReTarDedFisHy that brown was beautiful, it would be MotorStorm™. From a variety of vehicles ranging from Motorcycles/Bikes and ATVs, to Rally Cars and Big Rigs. ReTarDedFisHy loves playing MotorStorm™ online, and there's no other racing title more competitive than MotorStorm™. The fast-paced action, 12 players online and brutal crashes make every race intense as hell, especially when squeezed into a narrow cavern. This game really deserves to be played LOUD. That being said, MotorStorm™ does have it's ups and downs, the ups being the wide range of totally different vehicles, and the variety of different maps. With ups, also comes downs, the most noticable being the missing features of a normal racing game; Quick Race, Custom Race and no Split-Screen Multiplayer? They eventually released a Time Attack-esque mode a few months after launch - but it really should have already been included with the game! These missing features are what led to MotorStorm™ only recieving average reviews, but nothing stops it from being the best brutal off-road racer yet.

It's already confirmed that MotorStorm™ 2 is in the works titled "Pacific Rift". Oo fancy. It takes place on a Pacific island, totally different from that of the original desert theme.

-> In video gaming news, it's been confirmed that a demo for Star Wars: The Force Unleashed will be released on the PSN and XBL Marketplace sometime this August, in a video interview with LucasArts' Market Manager, Matt Shell. Woo!
                              •                   Interested?

Day 6 - Uncharted 2 finally confirmed (confirmed).

Well, its finally confirmed confirmed (yeah, that's two) that Uncharted 2 is in the works, according to an interview with Christophe Balestra, VP of Naughty Dog, by Jeux France. ReTarDedFisHy, for one, is hella excited that it is double confirmed now, so they're definitely going to do it now. Uncharted was ReTarDedFisHy's game of 2007, because of the surprisingly strong narrative, story and albeit simple, great gameplay mechanics. He can't wait to see footage of U2 in action :D It was already the best looking title of 2007, so Naughty Dog must have something sneaky (despite Naughty being in their name, sheesh) up their sleeves... it's going to look great, we already know that :)

Day 5 - An eventful night.

Hello fellow Giant Bombers, this is ReTarDedFisHy.
Yet again, his Internets connection refuses to listen to him, and again decides to not post his daily blogs.
No matter, as I will just wrap this one up fast.

Yay, ReTarDedFisHys submissions are getting proccessed, approved, and uhhh rejected (for doubles)! At least something's happening to them, and ReTarDedFisHy's satisfied after three days of waiting for something. So far, he wrote a lengthy article for Big Boss and Revolver Ocelot, contributed the "Clone" and "Nanomachine" video game concepts, added tons of stuff to the Shin-Ra concept, and even the "Frag" concept.

So, just last night, ReTarDedFisHy went to a craaazy party. It was the after-ball party, ReTarDedFisHy didn't go to the ball/prom himself, because he couldn't - everthing in his house (except for computers, PS3 and TV) were packed away - because he's moving pretty soon, so his suit was gone. ReTarDedFisHy didn't mind anyway. He saw all of his friends he hadn't seen in a long time and basically had a blast, it was really cool. ReTarDedFisHy also saw the girl "FisHy" of his dreams... and boy was she a looker that night... he also knows that she likes him, and after probably a whole minute of staring (and looking at the ground) at eachother, ReTarDedFisHy was dragged away by some of his old friends. After about an hour, he saw the girl FisHy at the bar counter all by herself. ReTarDedFisHy was going to go and ask her if she wanted a drink or whatever... but he was too scared, shy and embarrased, (not to mention pissed and trippy... no wait nvm that was after... DAMNIT), and didn't want to leave his comfy corner. ReTarDedFisHy saw her multiple times after that as well, so there's no real excuse. He even saw her waiting for her to get picked up outside by herself and made no attempt whatsoever to communicate. Even though she's the hottest fishy in the school... ReTarDedFisHy should be brave enough righT?? RIGHT?! He should be ashamed, humiliated and is downright pitiful. ... Crying face :_(

After that, ReTarDedFisHy left with his friends and brother FisH. All loud and stuff walking in town at 2am... We were walking for about 15 minutes, and that's when it happened. Brother had his phone in his hand, strapped to his wrist. ReTarDedFisHy looked up and saw a pretty big guy, early 30s he'd guess, that tried to step in front of him or something... and ReTarDedFisHy was just like... WTF? ReTarDedfisHy didn't think any of it. All of a sudden, his brother yelled "WTF?! OH SH*T!!" and started to run after the guy - everyone stopped - and ReTarDedFisHy himself decided to run as well, and signalled the group to follow too. After a few minutes of downright marathon sprinting, we lost sight of the guy, and lost a brand new Sony Ericcsson K850i - around $500 USD. Luckily no one was hurt, apparently we ran the wrong way, and brother FisHy ran the other way to try and catch him, but just couldn't. The dude could've lead us into an alleyway where his other friends were and someone could've got seriously hurt... Thank God that wasn't the case. We're all OK now, and just trying to forget about it - it could've ended alot uglier.

Morale of this story kids? Don't be stupid. We all do stupid things, and that's what makes us human... but still. Try not to do dumb things.

"Hey, we all do dumb things Niko, that's what makes us human!" - Roman (GTAIV 2008)

Hadn't done much since.

Also... Sony says that they're going to reveal the "huge exclusive" on August 3rd! And they said it has absolutely nothing to do with SE's event... Can't wait!

Day 4, sorta (again). - An uneventful night.

A whole day/night of CoD4-age.
Yup. ReTarDedFisHy dropped CoD4 about 5 months ago, and is starting to pick it up again - he's on his 4th prestige rank, and is currently rank 47.
His weapon of choice is the P90, Silenced, Stopping Power, and the Extreme Conditioning perks.
He loves his domination on the battlefield... usually a nice 3-to-1 K/D ratio for an average game. He hates campers, and people that use "teamwork" *cough* (yeah, WTF is with that?) to cover eachother's back - in other words, people that prevent ReTarDedFisHy from sneaking up behind and owning everyone in his path...
ReTarDedFisHy HATES the Matyrdom perk. He HATES people that are satisfied that the only kills they can get - is by dying.
CHEAP CHEAP CHEAP CHEAP CHEAP!!!

Dang, ReTarDedfisHy is loving CoD4 MP ('cept for Matyrdom) right now. Not much else to talk about - catch you guys later.

Day 3, sorta. - Last (last) night's bombcast Plus, I Got the BBE!

ReTarDedFisHy posted this blog, then went to the mall with his girlFisH, only to find that his blog was never posted at all.
Here it is (was):

So, the first Giant Bombcast went up last night as an official website.
With the Giant Bomb fully-exploded now, they focused more on, you know, things they should (as a video game website); things related to the video game industry (not that energy drinks are bad or anything :D).
Overall, ReTarDedFisHy felt that the Giant Bomb crew took a fresher approach to this week's bombcast, and thought that the bombcast felt more professional (not getting sidetracked as much), while still retaining the humor that we all know and love.
ReTarDedFisHy thought that it was really cool that us, as users, made an impact and a difference, and knowing that the Giant Bomb crew acknowledged that in their Bombcast.

ReTarDedisHy also thought that it was very suitable that he finally got his Big Boss Emblem* the very night the first "official" Giant Bombcast went up. After intense hours of straight gaming ReTarDedFisHy finally has it. Happy Day :D

BBE- (MGS4 - Hardest (Extreme) difficulty setting, NO kills, NO alerts, NO health items, NO continues, and in under 5 hours)
ReTarDedFisHy's final time was 03:34:16. Not bad for a first BBE run. And who knows, maybe ReTarDedFisHy will be brave enough to review MGS4 now.

Day 2 - An uneventful day.

Today was pretty uneventful for ReTarDedFisHy. No interesting news on the gaming industry either. He pretty much spent the whole day playing Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, getting one step closer to the coveted BB emblem. ReTarDedFisHy hopes that one day they would add trophy support for MGS4, but hasn't heard any news as of yet. Now... if there was only a way of getting past the Big Mama chase scene easier...

So far ReTarDedFisHy is really impressed with the site and hopes to be a part of it for years to come. He only came across a few bugs, and the site crashed on him only a couple times, despite the claims that the site is crashing like every 5 minutes. Some bugs he came across include:

  1. Not being able to edit pages
  2. Not being able to add images (seems like its random)
  3. Post count wrong (not that ReTarDedFisHy is a postcountwhore or anything)
  4. Some posts don't seem to register

Despite these minor bugs, ReTarDedFisHy really loves this site and hopes that everyone is enjoying it too.

Day 1.5

Hmm... it seems that ReTarDedFisHy is too scared to even attempt to review Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Pariots. Apparently he is very intimidated by the amount of epic within MGS4. Even after reading countless reviews himself, beaten the game 3 times, played every other game prior to MGS4, almost has the Big Boss Emblem and just recently listened to the Giant Spoiler Snakecast. He likes to review more simple, down to earth games, but with an incredible amount of critical analysis and depth. His last review was Uncharted: Drake's Fortune for the PLAYSTATION® 3, and he'll be posting that up soon.
