18th Birthday List

So a guy told ReTarDedFisHy to create a list where each year he lived he would have to associate a personally significant game to that specific year, so here it is. The list stops at age 14 because these are the games that founded ReTarDedFisHy's taste in games. These are the games that made him the gamer that he is today.

List items

  • ReTarDedFisHy's first game ever. "Pow pow" he called it. ReTarDedFisHy's father was the master of this game. (Age 3)

  • ReTarDedFisHy's first ultra-violent game ever. Guns, Demons and Hell. How could this be bad for a 4-year old? (Age 4)

  • Oh, the memories. This is such a good game, words can't even begin to describe. First platformer ever. (Age 5)

  • As the first fighting game ever for ReTarDedFisHy, he sure did pick a good one. Dan's mini-hadouken still makes ReTarDedFisHy chuckle to this day. (Age 6)

  • ReTarDedFisHy was so good at this game that he would make his friends cry when they tried to play with him. Alright, that was ReTarDedFisHy's brother. Still, Hwoarang kicks ass. (Age 6)

  • Whatever happened to the good Pokémon? The classic 151 are legendary. The new ones not so much. Do you see what the kids nowadays are playing with? Gigantic mech-animal-cyborg-sorta-3D-but-still-2D-it's-like-the-artists-were-high-and-what-the-hell-is-with-their-names? So uninspired and unimaginative.

  • ReTarDedFisHy's favorite game of all-time. Enough said. (Age 7)

  • Epic game, this. ReTarDedFisHy recalls watching the cinematic cut-scenes. He was scared of them. The characters looked too real for him at the time. (Age 8)

  • Classic FPS. This is where ReTarDedFisHy honed his FPS skills that still hold up to this day. (Age 9)

  • ReTarDedFisHy loved it, then hated it, then loved it, then hated it, then loved it again so hard that all the hate was irrelevant. Good game, this one. "HA! HA! HA! HA! HA! HA! HA!!!" made this FisH cringe so hard, even though he was only 10. (Age 10)

  • ReTarDedFisHy's first RTS was no joke. StarCraft's map editor was played around with endlessly until the phrase "You wanna piece of me, boy?" was drilled into his brain. (Age 10)

  • Nothing can explain the feeling of being able to kill literally thousands of dudes with one guy. It's awesome. (Age 10)

  • This game was so good that ReTarDedFisHy cried a little. At the age of 10 you'd think that he wouldn't understand a thing from the complex storyline that is Metal Gear Solid. You're right. He didn't. Like the all the others on this list, it is a favorite of all-time. (Age 11)

  • Countless mods, great multiplayer and a memorable campaign made this game one of ReTarDedFisHy's favorite RTS games of all-time. Again, the map editor was abused to Hell. (Age 11)

  • Oh, mama. This game is top-cheese. Cream of the crop. Numero Uno when it comes to storytelling, multiplayer, mods, gameplay and user control over the game's mechanics. ReTarDedFisHy remembers when he picked up that can for the first time. It was a great, great moment. Probably the defining moment of his gaming life. What is this "physics"? (Age 12)

  • A step-up from the classic 1.6, Source was a godsend to those craving twitchy gameplay at a next-gen level. ReTarDedFisHy still plays. Nothing beats a flick-shot one-shot deag headshot. BOOM, HEADSHOT! (Age 13)

  • Oh Hideo Kojima, you so favorite of mine. (Age 14)

  • ReTarDedFisHy's first real hack n' slash/action-RPG. Insane combos was a necessity. ReTarDedFisHy remembers people crying over how bad this game was just because they couldn't get passed the first boss. GG, get good. (Age 14)
