I had to work last Saturday so while I was stuck to my computer all morning, I kept trying my luck at AtumnSeal.com, trying to get a coupon for Trine.

Long story short, I have a ton of other coupon codes I don't need and they expire on Nov 20th. PM me if you want one and I'll try to reply as soon as possible. If I have any left tomorrow, I'll just dump them all here unless it violates any rules to do so.

It'll save you the trouble of playing the slot machine over and over like I did! Here's what I've got:

  • Remedy Entertainment: -50% Alan Wake Collector's Edition Steam discount coupon (3 of these)
  • Remedy Entertainment: -50% Alan Wake's American Nightmare Steam discount coupon (2x)
  • Recoil Games: -75% Rochard Steam discount coupon (6 or 7 of these)
  • Almost Human: -50% Legend of Grimrock Steam discount coupon
  • Frozenbyte: -75% Trine Complete Collection Steam discount coupon
  • Frozenbyte: -75% Trine 2 Steam discount coupon
  • Frozenbyte: -50% Trine 2: Goblin Menace Steam discount coupon (gone!)

Has anyone tried (or heard of) Gamebot.ca? It appears to be a kind of middle-man for buying/selling used games, and the prices look decent for some of it (assuming they don't collect a big fee on top of it). I've got a grip of old 360 games but I'm sure there's a better option than EBGames. Thoughts?

Sorry for resurrecting a very old thread, but has there been any progress on this? The documentation uses this example:

http://api.giantbomb.com/characters/?api_key=ABCDEF123456&gender=M&sort=birth_date&format=xml

If I plug in my own API key, that example doesn't even work, Princess Zelda is among the first results returned. Any updates?

Some parts of ACR felt half-assed, and at times you'd swear it's cobbled together from ACB's deleted scenes. It's a good game overall, but if we're just talking about the single player campaign, I'd say AC2 was better than Brotherhood, and Brotherhood was better than ACR.

By the way, regarding Altair's "lameness", they referred to his battle with the Mongols or something in one of the cutscenes. He was out there reppin' the creed, but not during the memories Desmond>Ezio experienced in this game.

I know every thread in this forum has kind of devolved into talking about how ACR was sorta disappointing, but I can't resist adding one more thought: my GOD was it ever easy. I didn't die once in combat, and all of the "puzzles" were basically done for you. Bummer.

I'm sure I'm not the only one puzzling over this, so I'd like to share a solution I came up with last night.

As of Jan 22, 2012, the latest version of the game has a glitch where you can't complete the 2nd set of bomb challenges. After playing for a while and crafting tons of bombs, I noticed I still didn't have two of the challenges:

  • Craft a bomb with every shell type
  • Craft a bomb of each effect type

Funny thing is, I did already have "Use every bomb effect at least twice". Apparently this glitch came up in the latest patch. It's affecting my copy on the Xbox, but it sounds like it's the same on PC and PS3. To complete this challenge and get the "Craft Maniac" achievement, delete the title update (but not your save files!). On the Xbox it's a single item, 9MB in size.

Then boot up the game again and select "cancel" when it prompts to download the title update. Note you'll have to move your saves out of cloud storage because you can't connect to live if you don't have the title update installed. After you complete the challenges and get the achievement, you can quit and download the update again.

I hope that helps somebody out.

My joystick plugged into the game port, and into the keyboard's ps/2 port for the POV hat. My computer has neither of those ports, so... This free to play game is going to cost me!

Well! It would have been handy if I'd noticed this before I got to work on this thing, (which grabs a random character name and is also PHP based).

lol, oh well. I wound up doing the exact same thing, but less elegantly!

It probably would have been a better idea to post this before Halloween, but anyway:

I spent a couple of hours with the GiantBomb API for the first time and came up with a really simple/dumb thing:

Cosplay idea generator - http://dmack.ca/projects/cosplay/

It basically grabs a random game character from the GB database and pairs it with an adjective, (also randomly selected from a list), so you get suggestions like "Steampunk Nathan Drake" or "Cardboard Box Bomberman". It would be more useful if it used the Screened/Comicvine/AnimeVice databases as well, but Screened and Animevice don't seem to have APIs yet, and I can't get an API key from Comicvine because there's already a "DMack" user at that site, and I'm playing username chicken with him/her.

It's pretty dumb. Use it at next year's comic/dragon/whatever-con! Also feel free to suggest other adjectives that would be appropriate. As I'm typing this, I realized "zombie" would be a good addition.

edit: Oh, and it's a joke! If that's not clear :P

@TrueEnglishGent: Would you settle for "I wanted to walk away and live a clean life, but I got sucked back in?" :P

Tech-wise, I don't expect a leap the size of San Andreas -> GTA4, but remember the significant improvements between GTA3, VC, and SA. I'm buzzin' with anticipation.
