I'm starting to think that while Telltale still gets biggest/worst mess, Bethesda are doing their damnedest to compete.
The latest in the Fallout 76 saga is that people have started to get their $200 Power Armour CE. These came with physical copies and got delayed, so on release Bethesda had to provide digital codes to people so they could play the game they paid for. Now that people are getting the box, they've found out that the "canvas" bag originally sold to them as part of the bundle was replaced with a nylon bag.
When contacted, Bethesda responded by saying they decided/found that the canvas bag was going to be too expensive/take too long to produce so they replaced it - without telling anyone. They also originally said that they weren't going to do anything about it.
They've now changed their tune and said they'll give anyone who bought that edition 500 atoms in game if they provide proof of purchase. Then they decided to post this up on Reddit and throw some poor contract employee under a bus
Thanks for tagging us in this post. We’re not sure if you've seen this make the rounds on various areas of the internet, yet, but we've made an official statement about this issue and included it below:
"The Bethesda Store's Support member is a temporary contract employee and not directly employed by Bethesda or Bethesda Game Studios. We apologize to the customer who took the time to reach out. The support response was incorrect and not in accordance with our conduct policy. Unfortunately, due to unavailability of materials, we had to switch to a nylon carrying case in the Fallout 76: Power Armor Edition. We hope this doesn’t prevent anyone from enjoying what we feel is one of our best collector’s editions."
