Jeff has been and will remain the most veteran professional commentator about videogames and I feel very very VERY privileged to have been with this site as a member while he was here and while it was still in mostly its original form. Not to downplay what comes next, I am sure it'll be a fine time.

Jeff and some of the other previous crew where why I came and why I paid, so I must be honest, I will give this site a fair shake in the months to come and hopefully what they make will continue to be what I want. Good luck to all the staff!

And thanks, Jeff. I mean it.

The primary search result the term we're all pretending isn't primarily a slur, is the slur definition. In fact, "slime" comes up 0 times as a result, including in dictionaries and etymological sources.

It's been a slur with that definition for over 100 years, folks. If anyone easily misspoke and said it because it sounds like "guck" or "gloop" or "glop", no one is calling that person a bad person. So put the strawman away, while you're at it.

Talk about manufactured outrage...

I have been done with product reviews for games for a looooong time. Curiosity does sometimes get me so I'll peak at some of them, but for use as purchasing advice? No. Not in like a decade have I used a review in that way. What I want from game analysis is, as Jeff states, critique. If the GB staff are considering more written content about games, I will read it.

IMO, this might work better as a shorter format and maybe a more embellished format? If it's going to be a parody of film critique, it needs to be a little punchier. This video kinda dragged for me.

And people's mileage will vary a lot on the voice alone. For me "what if annoying voice lol" still kinda equals "annoying voice". If others don't mind it, then that's my loss.

The immediate effects of what Dan's asking about, if the oceans disappeared instantly, would be cataclysmic.

Weeks? We'd be fucked in MINUTES. The oceans not only occupy a vast amount of space into which air would then have to rush into, they keep an vast amount of pressure down on the tectonic plates and continental shelves -- there would be global domino effect 10.0 earth quakes and volcanic eruptions and other massive seismic activity and a violent vacuum effect at all of the former water fronts, a sudden air pressure drop globally that could possibly kill or severely debilitate all inland life and THEN we face the issue of no water to drink or fuel our weather systems.

I always wanted to play this game but it literally never once was in stock at my local rental place. I kinda don't believe they actually had a copy, just the placeholder box.

I guess the movie is also making this mistake with its choice to use electric cars because fossil fuels wouldn't be around in a world where dinos didn't get wiped out, but I also guess we all know that's not how that works lol.

Fossil fuel aren't dinosaur fossils, and they certainly didn't need to a mass extinction to exist -- as if we're tapping into a liquid dino layer of the earth that was created when they were all blasted at once by the meteor.

I know that's not the implication in this video, but I thought it was a funny enough logical extreme that it as worth typing out.

Love the vid, totally didn't expect Voidburger on here!

Holy moly, I used to read Kombo. I used to be with them back when they were the Advanced Media Network or AMN. I haven't heard about Kombo in aaaaaaages. Casey Ayers I think was the EIC? How do I remember this...

I'm so happy we still have Vinny, Brad and (especially) Alex. Part of what made this so sad was it was both a breaking up of an incredible and historied team, but also potentially the very last I might see of the former staffers. But now that half of that is no longer the case, it's made this feel a lot less depressing.

The GB and GBE crews were already pretty separated (in a way that today feels silly since no one's in the same building anymore), so Nextlander still feels very much like an extension of GB. I'm curious if they'll do any collabs down the road, though I don't expect anything soon.
