The banality of the discussion around the percentage value of two stars is a pretty strong case for abolishing numerical scores in reviews. I remember Jeff saying that he was considering that once a few years back, maybe even before the whole discourse on criticism got all fucked up.

Of course, while part of me thinks that I'd love to see a community discussion where people actually had to read and respond to the text of a review, the rest of me knows the entire discussion would just turn to the lack of a score instead. Maybe that's why Jeff changed his mind about it.
